As for the diet, I'm much better at saying no in the store than saying no in my house, so for me one of the key things is keeping what I don't want to eat out of the house.

You may also want to think about picking up an exercise routine and sticking with it. I highly recommend yoga, it can be helpful for weight loss and lowering blood pressure. When I'm on a regular schedule with yoga, I find myself much more focused and relaxed. Even 10 minutes a day helps, if that's all I have time for! Good luck!

Hi there!! I agree...I started hot yoga in January and kept it up 3-4 days a week and lost 15 pounds in 4 months. Along with that I ate a lot of fruit in the morning, drank 64oz of water a day, had a lean cuisine for lunch and ate dinner before 7pm. Any time you can walk instead of taking an elevator as well, GO FOR IT! Hope this helps (:

Are you using the smart one frozen foods? If so, they are extremely high in sodium which can actually be detrimental to the whole eating healthy thing.

Grocery shop with a list. I am not committed enough to meal prep so I always get options - but you may need to shop in smaller amounts more frequently so you don't throw away produce!

I second using Myfitnesspal to count calories. Super easy with their app.

For exercise - reminding myself that 30 minutes is literally 2% of the day helped a lot with my commitment. I also found exercise I enjoy - yoga. Beachbody on Demand is $99 for one year of access to ALL of their workouts. Love it.

Most importantly, love yourself and your body. Think about all the wonderful things it does for you! Then think about how to best take care of your body that works so hard for you everyday.

Are you eating a lot of fruit, I waa eating way too much for a while because they were 0 points and it was actually causing me to stall my weight loss. Are you going to meetings or only online?

Meal Planning helps me the most. I find that for FH and I, if we dont make a shopping list and plan meals for the week in advance then I tend to binge. Especially if I dont plan for my lunches at work. Then I end up stopping at wawa or the bodega across the street from me on the way home. So I definitely recommend meal planning and keeping unhealthy things out of the house.

We also started buying our produce from a local bulk market (in our area its called Produce Junction). I find that if we have a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables in the house we're more likely to eat them because we don't want them to go bad and its super cheap!

Doing HIIT workouts and strength training will help boost your metabolic rate. I personally like the app Chronometer for food tracking. It provides alot more details for the nutrition nerd like me (I'm a dietitian)

I agree with a lot of the replies.

Make sure you make a grocery list!! Choose what you need wisely, and if there's a diet or low calorie option for what you need to get go ahead and switch it out.

Since I'm on the same boat I Just try to keep thinking of me in my dress, I need to look better than ever on my wedding day no matter what. Even if I gain it back after the wedding, who cares. As long as i look fab in all your wedding pics and everyone seen how good I looked lol. Good luck!

The frozen, processed foods are the culprit! (Sugar too!) Your body wants real food that it recognizes and knows how to process. If you had a choice between an apple that is 116cals. Or a 100 cal. packaged snack, what would you pick to eat? It seems like the processed packaged snack would be better because it's only a hundred calories, right. Wrong! If you eat that processed snack your body will not know what it is or where to use it as fuel and it will just store it as fat. However, if you eat the apple, which has more calories, your body will know exactly what it is and where to use it. The apple won't be stored as fat! So, in the end, always go for real, unprocessed foods. Also, please try to ween yourself off of sugar. Everyone is addicted to it whether they know it or not. If you are craving something sweet, reach for some raisins or a piece of fruit. I've lost 50lbs. over the past year, just following these simple rules. No calorie counting!

I hear ya! I started doing Intermittent Fasting this week and have already lost 2lbs after STRUGGLING for months with working out and watching what I eat. What I like about the 5:2 intermittent fasting is you can eat the same foods as usual 5 days a week, then twice a week only consume a max of 500 calories, and that seems to create enough of a caloric deficit to lose weight. I'm a little hangry, but I heard after about 3-4 weeks, you get used to it and it isn't as tough. It's supposed to help blood pressure, increase weight loss, help clear skin, sugar/carb craving control, and more. Here's some info:

I have taken a brief hiatus from the gym in lieu of this new eating arrangement, but will go back starting this weekend for 4 days a week with a mix of cardio and weights (non fast days).

My fitness pal is a great way to track meals and make you think twice about overeating. HIIT workouts have helped me thus far, and i have been seeing them from Youtube. So it is definitely a way to go about this without spending lots of money. Also drink at least 60 ounces of water a day and drink green tea. You have to remember you cant outrun the fork so food is very important.

Do you attend the Weight Watchers meetings? When I was on WW, I found attending the meetings held me accountable.

I don't count calories, but we got rid of all the processed crap. If I want a snack, my only options are usually fruit or nuts or something. And we hit the gym every day for at least 40 minutes. It's hard and very slow, but I'm down 10 lbs in just over a month.

Don't stress about it! Anytime you're sitting, get up and move. Whether during a commercial break-do jumping jacks and knee kicks until the show returns or go out for a walk on a break at work. If you can add 30 minutes of cardio to your day, you'll see a difference. Once you start seeing the difference, your mindset will change and you'll be more eager to see a bigger change.

I struggle with this too. MyFitnessPal has been great. I have a friend at work who keeps me accountable by weighing in with me every Monday. I watch the biggest loser while I work out... lol, seriously it helps me. I have a step counter on my watch that notifies me if I sit for too long. I measure myself once every two weeks and actually take a picture of myself and update it on MyFitnessPal. Talk about a reality check! I work out 3-4 times a week, and I push myself more each time. I got myself a big old water jug so I know what I need to drink in a day. So far I've lost almost 10 lbs this past month but I've mostly lost volume because everything is fitting better. Your blood pressure might be stress related... if you want a friend on MyFitnessPal let me know! We can keep each other on track. Smiley smile
