Hey Genesis! I felt the same way and stressed and stressed about losing weight for my wedding. My biggest worries were that I wasn't going to fit in my dress and that I wasn't going to like the way that I looked in our pictures. After the wedding, I realized that it's not worth it to stress over losing weight! What matters is that you're happy and you're marrying the love of your life! Don't let trying to lose weight detract from the happiness of your engagement and your wedding!

I've been trying too. My FH and I have both put 20-30 lbs since we started going out. Someone on WW started a Facebook page for WW brides/grooms. Shredding for the Wedding-Wire Smiley smile

It's only as big of a deal as you make it to be. I myself want to lose a little bit of weight, mostly tone my back before the wedding. If I don't lose any weight, I'm fine with it. FH loves me the way I am now and honestly, that's what matters to me.

You have plenty of time if you want to lose weight. Make small changes, like your diet, and progress from there. No reason to stress yourself out.

@Jenna said it best - "You have plenty of time if you want to lose weight. Make small changes, like your diet, and progress from there. No reason to stress yourself out."

Find a method that works best for you. I hate running, but I love to dance, so I opt for Zumba over the treadmill. I also know that I'm better off simply not bringing my downfall foods into the house than trying to 'be good' around the bad stuff. Download an app or join a website that allows you to track calorie burn vs intake (there's TONS of these, and a lot of them are free).

Make small changes like taking the stairs, opting for water instead of sugared drinks and asking for a box before your meal is served when eating out.

I've been struggling with this too so I have made small changes. I've been working out twice a week, walking more, and have been trying to balance my diet better. I still have the occasional snack though Smiley smile

I cut out soft drinks and sugary drinks (I'm from the south and sweet tea was a main food group for me) and I've lost five pounds just from that. It really is little changes that make a big difference. I'm eating better because I feel better. I don't feel like eating twelve oreos after dinner because my dinner is healthy. I'm also trying to not think "I'm on a diet" because that makes me even more hungry!

The more you stress, the more frustrated you'll become and you may end up giving up. Just keep in mind, it won't happen overnight and everyone loses weight at a different rate. I cut out soda, coffee, we don't go out unless we are invited out (happens maybe once a month?) And i get a salad and some kind of lean meat. Also, I got some useful advice of while you should weight yourself, if you have or buy a soft measuring tape and measure the areas you're aiming to lose weight in, you may see better results than on a scale, since muscle weighs more. Basically, just try not to see it as a big deal, make small changes, and be positive. Good luck!

I'm working to lose weight for my health and help our ttc, not the wedding. I don't care if I look like I do now, or 70lbs lighter at our wedding.

Im getting to the point where i just dont even care anymore. I have been going to the gym for a couples months now and the scale doesnt change although a few people have told me i look slimmer. Honestly with the wedding stress ill probably loose more weight anyway.

Its up to you. I had gained weight after buying my dress so I knew I'd need to get back down to that weight. If you're confident with yourself and feel comfortable where you are now then maybe just try to maintain your current weight instead of losing it. Remember your spouse will love you either way.

I took weight loss off my "must have" list and put it on my "nice to have" list. Just not a priority for me. Definitely have enough other things to stress over! Best wishes.

I bought a dress I loved that was fabulous (and loose) on me when I was 7ish pounds heavier than I am now. I've lost 15lbs since being engaged (12 months) and would like to lose another 13ish before the wedding but it isn't necessary for my happiness.

I've been losing weight for the wedding and honeymoon along with just general health reasons. My FH and I committed to a 30 day clean eating challenge just to jumpstart a change in lifestyle. I haven't been drinking anything other than water and green tea. I have almond milk in the am with breakfast. No fried foods, white carbs, or processed food. While this isn't sustainable for me to deny myself my favorites forever, this has taught me I can eat much healthier more often even when I'm on the go. And I've lost about 7 pounds still the beginning of the month.

Losing weight has been a big deal for me for health reasons for the most part but I also want to lose weight for the wedding as well. I have made changes to my diet and I work out at least 3 times a week. In the beginning I didn't see much weight lost but I kept going and still do to this day. I cut out sodas and I'm watching my carb and sugar intake. I have lost 9 lbs since November. Take it slow; you will be just fine.

If the only reason you want to lose weight is for the wedding, I wouldn't even bother, it's not that big of a deal.

I've been losing weight gradually with our wedding as our deadline, because we will be ttc soon after. I would download an app that keeps track of meals, such as MyFitnessPal. Being aware of your calorie intake will help a lot. I cut down my portions but didn't cut out any food. I found that I was drinking most of my calories, so I slowly cut out pop and now drink mostly water (which I used to hate.) Drinking the right amount of water helps you lose weight because you aren't drinking calories, it makes you feel more full, and it boosts your metabolism.

I do not understand the whole "sweating for the wedding" thing. My fiancé proposed to me, not a future me 25lbs lighter. I'm trying to loose weight to be more healthy and prevent type 2 diabetes which runs in my family and at my last appointment the doctor told me I was pre-diabetic. So I just happen to be focused more on my health now then I was before our engagement. I will continue with the changes I made after we are married.

I personally feel that the pressure for a bride to be a stick figure at the wedding is absolutely ridiculous. I've had so many people assume I'm going to lose weight. The scary part about this is that I'm not overweight! I'm a totally healthy weight (mid-normal BMI) as is and probably carry an extra 5 lbs, but they want to see a super super thin bride with a perfectly flat stomach. Don't fall victim to this stupid industry! You don't need to starve yourself to be a beautiful bride!

(Of course, if you want to lose weight for health and fitness reasons and the wedding is a good motivator for you, go for it.)

You have a year so there's obviously plenty of time for you to lose some weight in a healthy manner. There's a lot of ways to do this but the easiest way to jump start is to cut out silly things like pop, lots of carbs, and processed foods.

Personally, I feel I need to lose a little weight so I'm just altering my diet and then going to build some muscle in my arms and back and abs so that I can feel more confident in my wedding pictures.

At the end of the day, your FH isn't going to care how much weight you lost once he sees you in your dress. He loves you now, he'll love you more then.

    @DiandraF I have 30 pounds to lose.

Thank you everyone ! I really appreciate all your responses . I guess I am being kind of silly . My FH will love me just as I am and he always reminds me . I will continue to try and be healthier but I won't let it take away from enjoying the wedding planning and my engagement . Thank you Ladies!
