Lost 4.5 lbs. In 3 days!

Carla, on October 30, 2017 at 1:08 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 32

I started to do a juicing diet to see how much I can loose in a week. I measured my self this morning and I went from 181 to 176.5 ! I am so excited and happy for me!

What I did is cut off everything except fruits and veggies.

Fruits I used: green apples, pears, pineapple, mixed berries or individual berries.

Veggies: celery, kale, romaine lettuce, parsley, cucumber, spinach.

Water or coco water!

Added chia seeds.

No sugar!

3x A DAY!

Once you start eating actual food again, you're gonna gain it all back. You do know that right?

Is that all you are ingesting? If so, a crash diet like this will do more harm then good. Please consult an experienced RDN for nutritional and diet advice :-(

ETA: If you want to try some DIY dieting, please look into reasonable diet and exercise plans. In the past, I've used Bodybuilding.com's diet and exercise plans to train for sprint triathlons and half marathons. https://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/brewster26.htm

That's not very healthy & you will gain the weight back. The best way to lose weight & keep it off is to watch your calorie intake (there's apps that help with this) & to get exercise regularly. ETA - spelling

I mean I can only echo what PPs have said. This is not a healthy way to lose weight. I think if I remember from my nutrition class a healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week. Right now all that weight you have lost is most likely water weight.

I know it seems very exciting to see results like this, but they aren't long term. Once you go back to a more regular diet, it will all come back. A better way to lose weight and just be healthier in general is to slowly cut back or cut out things from your diet (sugar, trans fats) over time and have some sort of regular exercise regimen. But yes, as @BdeG already said, you really should consult a RDN for this.

You've lost water, and you've lost everything which was in your digestive tract. Nothing else. The second you start eating food again, you'll gain it back.

If you want to lose weight quickly and in a sustainable, healthy way, try the ketosis diet. I lost 10 pounds in a month. There are so many recipes for it on Pinterest and you will never feel like you are starving. It takes some getting used to but it is far better than crash dieting.

It's great that you are trying to incorporate healthier foods into your diet, but as mentioned above, when you go back to eating again it will all come back (and maybe even more). This is just not something healthy to sustain. I highly recommend 21 day fix if you are looking for a balanced meal plan + workout routine that anyone can do! I have been pretty laid back with it because I want it to be a sustainable weight loss, but I've lost 25 pounds in the past 5 months!

Juicing isn't good for you. You rob yourself of nutrients and fibers you need in your daily life. Also Juicing tricks you into thinking you have actually lost weight when really it was just all water weight. Once you switch back to solid foods you will gain the weight back.

Also for the record, cleanses actually do nothing for you. You do not need to cleanse anything but juicing or cutting out certain foods. That's what your liver is for.

Girl, this is def not sustainable this far from your date, and as others have said, you'll gain it all right back... probably plus some. I encourage you to find a Registered Dietitian, or at minimum, a personal trainer, but don't crash diet for your big day. It's called "crash" for a reason.

Girl you need some protein! I second what everyone else is saying. It's not safe, your body needs more than what your feeding it, and you're going to gain it all back once you start eating normally again.

I did this a few months ago and it was awesome I felt so energized. I juiced for breakfast and dinner and ate a soup or salad for lunch and probably munch on some nuts and raisins and stuff like that for protein. No sugar or caffeine. I lost around 5 pounds one week, then I got strep throat and did not eat anything for 3 days because of the pain and I lost 5 more. Juicing is great as long as when you are done you don't go right back to old eating habits or you will gain it all back! fasting for 2-3 days is perfectly fine as long as you don't do more than 8-10 in a month.

@Madison - There is no reason to juice or fast at all. It's perfectly fine to have a protein smoothie or shake for breakfast or something like that - but to replace meals with a juice is not a healthy or constructive way to change your diet.

Your body doesn't need you to juice or fast - it needs you to fee it balanced meals. If you're looking for a healthy long term way to change your lifestyle - first consult a nutritionist or simply look to purchase more whole foods and less processed foods. Your body will thank you in the long run. You are doing it no favors by essentially starving yourself of specific nutrients and vitamins.

Please don't do this. I'm an RDN and see people get admitted to the hospital all the time for malnutrition after doing these "cleanses."

You're much better off switching the juice for a protein shake (Premiere Protein is a great option) and including more whole vegetables and lean protein with a consistent amount of whole grains.

I know many of you say that isn't good. I just wanted to see if I would loose any weight. I have another diet that my chiropractor gave me that I'll be going back to. No need too worry bc I'll be exercising too.

    Just thought it was exciting.

I would say this is a bad way to go about things .. I lost 35 since may .. and I usually do coffee for breakfast lol then a snack at around 10 usually carrots sometimes junk but I do limit it to 1 serving . Then lunch I eat what ever I want lunch time is my heaviest meal . Then snack again .. and for dinner I keep it to something small but protein packed . . Eggs and veg , salmon or other fish and veg .. or a chicken breast .. then I'll usually eat some sort of sweet snack like chocolate .. but I never eat after 7:30 . I typically consume about 1500 calories on average a day

Why would you get a diet from a chiropractor? That's like getting a vision Rx from a dentist

@Carla - if you essentially cut solid foods out and only drink juices of course you will loose weight - since you are just dropping water weight - but it isn't an effective method for your overall health and isn't a long term weight loss option.

I would recommend speaking to a nutritionist and then sticking to a diet of healthy whole goods - vegetables, lean meats and grains. While a chiropractor is technically a DR, hes not someone to get dieting advice from.
