Love in the Time of Covid...

According to the Wedding Report's statistics,

21% of couples are or have postponed to later in 2020.

41.5% are or have moved to 2021.

7.0% are or have cancelled altogether (some likely married but cancelled the full event)

30.5% are trying to hold their current 2020 wedding date.

46% of couples are cutting their budget by an average of 31%

I was a little surprised by these statistics by how optomistic many are. For those that married or will be marrying between March 2019 and December 2021, did you end up cancelling, postponing or carrying on with your wedding?!

We have postponed from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021. And we have actually increased our budget by about 30%. I wonder if those who decreased their budget did so involuntarily (ie, reduced their guest list, therefore the budget naturally followed)

We sure did decrease due to reduction in guest list. That's funny, we reduced by 33% in our budget!

We went through with our wedding but cut down our guest list from 92 to 7 people. Saved us a lot of money. Makes us wish we would have had a small wedding to begin with.

I know that's right! The smaller, the better. Less opinions too.

We were totally set against postponing but now I'm not sure.

Totally makes sense. Less people = less money. Since we postponed, we have not reduced our guest list at all. And since we had an additional year to save, we have added additional things that we originally wanted but didn’t have the budget for.

The biggest budget reduction wasn't guests for us, it was changing the venue from an art museum to a public park outside that required no permit.

Ahhhh. We got lucky and scored our venue for free, as long as we use the same venue for food and bar (which we had planned on doing anyway). So cutting our guest list would be the only way we would save money.

We held on to our wedding date, 10/10/20, and just pushed through. We set the date way before covid and I didn't want to go through the stress of postponing and then waiting even longer. We just cut our guest list from 40 to about 20 people which saved us some money too. And we were so lucky enough to have an amazing venue, and vendors to work with. They made our day incredible, and I'm so happy we decided to stick through it all.

We just got married on 12/6. We cut down our guest list from 150 to 17, did all outdoors and required masks. We’re very happy to be married and so many people were able to watch our livestream

My daughter postponed June 2020 wedding to August 2020 in CA back in April (when we thought that would buy more time and things would improve). The original venue was not going to open in foreseeable future, so we found one in different county that was even better (outdoor tent on 10 acres with beautiful landscape/waterfalls) and it was 30% less because everyone was cancelling weddings and they were desperate for business. The August wedding took place Covid style (masks/distancing, etc.) with 85 guests and she couldn't be more relieved to be married, done with the whole ordeal, and move on with their lives.

We continued on with our November 14 wedding using Covid guidelines at the time and a few small changes here and there. We agreed that as long as we could have at least 50 people the show would go on! We were lucky to be able to have around 90 guests and vendors who have thankfully stayed healthy. Our area started seeing a rise in cases right around the time of the wedding and has skyrocketed since Thanksgiving. It was a huge relief to have it done (without incident) and over since things are beginning to shut down again in our region!

Yes! This was the exact same way we felt! The day ended up being more perfect than we could’ve imagined (masks and all!), and it really made us focus on what was important versus the small details I would have typically been hung up on! You stop worrying about details of bouquets, signs, and cake when you are just praying you can safely be wed!
