Love vs Infatuation

The Bride, on August 15, 2019 at 7:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

According to P.S. I Love You "When infatuated with someone, you become lost in the emotion of a toxic desire.....Love is a strong feeling of intense affection. With true love, you are faithful, confident, loyal, and you are willing to make sacrifices for your partner. ....Very few couples who are “infatuated” develop into a long-term commitment of true love."

Do you agree that there is a difference between love and infatuation? Would you say you love your partner, am infatuated with him/her, or both?

There is definitely a difference. I was infatuated with Britney Spears in 5th grade, that doesn't mean that I'm in love with her. I suppose I was infatuated with my FW in the beginning of our relationship, but now I love her.

I would infatuation is definitely more like praise or how people develop feelings for celebrities. Love is about a genuine connection and commitment.

I like what PP said in differentiating between infatuation for celebrities vs love for your partner. Though I like to joke to my husband that it's the same because my celebrity crush is Ryan Reynolds ahah.

Infatuation and love are definitely different. Infatuation is based on merely appearances. True love goes so much deeper than appearance. Love is about loving the other person for all they are!

I think the progression of most relationships is lust, infatuation, love, and then being in love.

Nope. Love can be weird. Anything can happen. I think lust and infatuation are often involved at first. We're all still humans.
