Low country boil for rehearsal dinner

I would love to have a low country boil style dinner catered for our rehearsal dinner. But my sister (also MOH) said it is not nice enough and we need to have a more formal dinner. What do y'all think? Would you be excited to have a low country boil for dinner or think we needed something nicer?

I think that sounds like it would be awesome, as long as there's enough for everybody and you have some alternatives for those that don't like/might be allergic to seafood. RDs do not have to be formal or fancy, and honestly I think it's better if they're more laid back.

As PPs have said, RDs do not need to be fancy. I love a good low country boil. We originally were going to have a four course dinner at our caterer's restaurant, but decided it was too similar to our wedding. We wanted something more laid back. We had our RD in a semi-private area of a nice local pizza place. It was so relaxing and fun.

I would prefer a fun dinner like that. There is no requirement for a rehearsal dinner except to feed your rehearse-ees

I love low country boils! However, I think this is just too messy for a reception. I would not want to be picking food while wearing nice clothes.

I love it! I did a fish fry. We also had ribs, cheese and veggie trays, French fries, and mozzarella sticks, so a variety of options if someone wasn't into fish.
