Low-key Bachelorette party ideas????

Lyn, on September 4, 2015 at 7:08 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

Since we're eloping, only a handful of our friends know that our wedding is coming up soon. My unofficial MOH and I are trying to figure out a low-key bachelorette party for a small group of girls (maybe like 5). We live in central Jersey, but I don't want to go clubbing. I'd rather do a group activity so we can talk and catch up. We're considering just having wine and pizza at my house and watching chick flicks, but I thought I'd get a second opinion for ideas?

I think that sounds like fun! You can't go wrong with pizza and chick flicks and wine! My ladies rented a cabin and we went wine tasting, but honestly my favorite part of the weekend was just hanging out at the cabin, drinking, playing cards against humanity and watching all of my different friends get to know each other.

Personally, I think that as long as you're surrounded by fun friends that care about you, you'll have a wonderful time.

What part of central jersey? If you are near the south jersey border, you could go to a winery for a little and then just come back and have more wine and pizza?

We have been tossing ideas around too. My BMs won't make it out to my wedding location till about 2-3 days before the wedding. They all live in CT/NY and I live in NC, so we can't really do something "crazy" a few weeks before the wedding. I wanted something low-key if it was going to be so close to the wedding.

Some of the ideas we have come up with -- a cooking class and a painting party. Each will have wine (and sparkling cider for my BM mama-to-be). Not sure if that helps. If I come up with anymore, I'll be sure to respond again.

That sounds like it will be a ton of fun. Im over the club scene so this is my kind of night! I second what Pinky stated maybe a painting class.

What about going to one of those wine and paint night type things? I've never been but everyone I know that has gone has had a blast. I've also seen people go bowling for their bachelorette or mini golfing.

You know what I REALLY wanted to do with my BMs - but couldn't because it would have been WAY to close to the wedding?

Paintball War in old BM dresses (or ones from Goodwill) or even in just regular clothes. I wanted to do BMs vs GMs... But doing this two days before the wedding and with the potential of bruises - I couldn't risk it for the pictures!

I also tossed the idea around of Aerial Yoga... Again, possibility of bruises too close to the wedding - you know if someone happens to fall.

Or how about one of those skyjump places? With trampolines? (Again, just be careful)..

Thanks for all the suggestion so far! Paintball would scare me half to death, lol. My survival instinct would take over and I'd end up in a hidey hole somewhere.

    Fine Greetings!

    - Spring Lake theater -- really charming place -- and dinner at one of the Ocean Avenue Restaurants.

    - Going to Pier Village/Long Branch for the afternoon.

    - Going to a Comedy Club (when a more calm comedians are booked) and Dinner

    - More quiet time: Spending relaxing time together, with everyone getting a manicure/pedicure.

All the best for a fabulous Wedding Day celebration! How exciting!

    Sincerely, Michele, Jersey Shore!

My friends did a pool party for me. Mexican food, margaritas, hanging at the pool and some card game that involved lots of shots. It was my core group- 6 of us- and my best friends 21 year old daughter who we all love. It was our most fun party ever.

One of my activities was a room escape. It was a lot of fun. I think they have them all over now. Basically your group is locked in a room and you have to find clues to unlock other rooms and ultimately escape in an hour. We had a blast and it was a fun group activity.

I think your idea sounds awesome! My MOH and I have been talking (very casually, since we've got a year until this comes up haha) that we might do a wine tasting where you hire a wine person to come out to your house/hotel/wherever and do a tasting of 6 or so wines. Super chill, fun, there's wine....I'm hoping it happens!

ETA: Just saw your paintball comment. Funny story, my brother insisted on doing paintball as a family for his birthday one year. I reluctantly agreed, and did exactly what you described - ended up hiding in a little alcove under a tree until I was shot. Once I exited the field, I found out I was the last one from our team keeping our chances to win alive! So, survival instincts came in handy? lol.

I'm thinking of suggesting a comedy club that's in New Brunswick for mine. I'm not the clubbing type and don't drink too much because it messes with my stomach. So something like going out to dinner then to the comedy club then back to my apartment to just hang out the rest of the night sounds perfect to me.

@Jacqui - Stress Factory? I love that place!

@Julee - An Escape Room is a great idea. We've been to a couple in NYC and had a blast. I googled it and found out there are several in Jersey - Montclair, Wayne, Freehold. We're definitely going to consider that, or my FH might even do that for his bachelor party.

I like the wine tasting ideas too and the one weekend we're considering has the Grand Harvest Festival where all the Jersey wineries have a tent and it's all-day tasting for a reasonable entry fee. We might do that if everyone's available that weekend.

Thanks again for all the great ideas, this is super helpful!

Lyn, yes! I've never been but have been wanting to check it out for a while! Good to know it's a great place.

An escape room crossed my mind yesterday but I didn't know there was one in Freehold. I've only heard of the one in the city. That would be a cool idea too!
