Lunch in the Limo: Am I crazy? Advice needed :)

dragonfly726, on June 2, 2011 at 12:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

On the day of the wedding, my BMs and I will be getting our hair done at a local salon, and then the limo will pick us up and taking us to the ceremony site which is about an hours drive. I was thinking this would be a good time for us to all eat a light lunch, as we won't have time once we get to the venue because we will only have an hour before the ceremony and we will have to get dressed and have some pictures taken.

Is it completely crazy to try and eat lunch in the limo? If it isn't does anyone have any ideas of something light and inexpensive I can provide for my Bridal Party? We could do fast food, but I know greasy food won't sit well in my stomach when I know I'll be nervous, not to mention it would add more time to our trip to the ceremony. I know it seems like a minor detail, but I just want to make sure I have a good idea of how things will work well in advance.

I don't eat in cars because I get carsick, so I'd definitely check around and make sure everyone is comfortable eating in the limo.

If you go forward with it, I'd get something easy to manage and not too messy, like a platter of wraps from the local deli.

Are any of you going to already be dressed? if you are, then I say no cause a lunch in a moving vehincle in dresses sounds like disaster. But, if you wont be dressed yet, the it could work great.

Sub sandwiches would be a great idea. you can get big long ones or a platter of them at a grocery store for a decent price and it will be filling and still sit in your stomach well.

@bluedaisy, no we won't be dressed yet, we'll be doing that when we get to the ceremony venue.

I think I like the idea of sub sandwiches or something similar from a deli. Thanks ladies

My girls and I are getting our hair done starting at 7am, so we will be up and getting started EARLY! I plan to have breakfast for the girls when we get back (fruit, bagels, etc.) then i planned to have a Jimmy Johns party sub platter in the limo for all of the bridal party after the ceremony. Ceremony is at 1:30, and dinner won't be until 7... I know there will be some bar stops in between so I figured feeding everyone at least a little something would be a great idea!

Check with your limo company before you make plans to eat in the limo, they may not be too happy if it's not normally done and add on a cleaning fee!

My daughter was FG when she was 6. The wedding was in the afternoon, then the bridal party went to a couple of sites for pictures. Reception wasn't for several hours after wedding. The "limo" was a party bus, and they served appetizer type foods for the BP (and included kid friendly ones for my daughter!). This kept everyone's blood sugar up and tided them over until the reception began.

I stood up in a wedding in October, and we ate lunch in the limo. The night before the wedding (after the rehearsal dinner) the bride, myself, and the MOH made sandwiches. The next day we packed a cooler full of sandwiches, drinks, and chips. The 19-person wedding party ate in the limo (well they actually had a bus...) on our way from the church to pictures.

I was incredibly grateful that we had something prepared. We were all famished and appreciated the food.

I wouldn't recommend fast food. It's greasy and messy, and you wouldn't want to spill in the limo or on yourselves. Plus, fast food tends to upset my stomach. I'd stick with simple sandwiches to be on the safe side. Smiley smile

.. check with the limo company to make sure your allowed to eat in the car, you don't want any extra charges or anything!

other than that, it's a great idea, (I'm doing it too!)do light stuff, crackers, cheese, fruit, veggies, small finger sandwiches. make sure to have lots of water, and granola or power bars at hand too, just incase!

If you are going to make the food the night before, be sure it is nothing that needs to be kept cold if it will be in the salon while you are getting ready. Don't want anything to spoil while all of you are getting done up. Or call the salon and see if they have a big fridge in the employee break room for you to store the stuff (or a cooler I guess - but I'm trying to cut back on things you could forget or need to drag around)

Also, I'm guessing the Men are dropping you off so you won't all have cars left at the salon?

I like the crackers, fruit, veggie, water, granola bars, etc idea.

I did bagels/cream cheese (small single serve portions - brought a few and tossed what we didn't use) OJ and mimosas at the salon for breakfast.
