Lux Plastic or China

We're renting dinner and cake plates. The venue provides drinkware. I'm buying gold flatwear so that I don't have to worry about collecting rented flatwear. If they get lost or thrown away it won't matter to me. I'll sell the flatwear after the wedding.


I don't care about covid and neither do any of my guests.

Renting real dinnerware and glasses is more economical. Unless you are having a dessert or heavy hors douerves only reception..or a backyard picnic, real plates/glasses/silverware is ideal. However definitely do high quality plastic for anything from the bar that is not water served at each table. Plus people dancing don’t have to worry about stepping on broken glass, etc

I may be on the outside with this opinion, but if you are having a sit down dinner with people who you are asking to dress nicely, you should provide dinnerware to match your event. Real plates, silverware and glassware is a must. There is no need to purchase them if your venue/caterer does not supply, there are Rental companies that have everything needed and you won't have to wash it. Personally if I went to a wedding with disposable dinnerware I would be slightly turned off, not going to ruin the evening, but just one of those things that will be given that second thought.

For our minimony we ordered plastic from Amazon and by looking at it no one could tell that it was plastic until they touched it. I would do plastic 🤷🏾‍♀️
