Lyrics during your walk down the aisle.. thoughts?

Is it weird for the song you walk down the aisle to, to have lyrics? Has anyone been to a wedding where their song wasn't instrumental or are you doing this yourself? What are your thoughts about this idea?

I would never do it just because of the song having to be short lol

I am doing this. I was going to do A Thousand Years by Piano Guys, but my fiance loves A Thousand Years part 2 with Christina Perri and Steve Kazee and he said he'd love to see me walk down the aisle to that which I was perfectly happy with because I love that version of the song. All the rest of the music before the ceremony starts and for when the parents and wedding party to walk down to will be instrumental so I feel like this makes my song stand out more when I walk down the aisle.

I walked down to Israel Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole's version of "Over the Rainbow" with the lyrics. Now whenever I hear it I'm taken back to that moment, which I don't think would have happened if the lyrics hadn't been there during my walk.

I think you should do what makes you happy Smiley smile

I've never been to a wedding with lyrics used in the processional, but I don't think I'd think much of it if I heard them. It's a beautiful moment, and it's perfectly fine to match it with a song with lyrics that are just as beautiful.

Am walking down the aisle to Best Part by Daniel Caesar. I choose this song because I adore the lyrics, so I would say go with what you want.

My step-daughter had lyrics and it was lovely. For their one year anniversary she just had me make them a large canvas with the lyrics on it to go over their bed. It's a very special song for them and I think it can be done well, Smiley heart

I'm walking to Etta James at last and the lyrics is why I choose this song. It gives me goose bumps 😁

I am also walking down to a song with lyrics- Lady by Kenny Rogers. I am going to try to walk slowly so that at least most of the first half of the song will play before I get to the endSmiley smile. How are others handling this? Will you play the whole song or let it fade in the middle after you finish your walk down the aisle?

That’s what I’m using! I think I’ll have the bridesmaids and myself walk to the song because it’s too beautiful to cut short

Nope. I am keeping the lyrics. It was the lyrics that caught my FH's attention when he heard it while we were on vacation overseas (I was busy trying on clothes at that time and was not paying attention) lol.

I walked in to a song with lyrics. I love the song, "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and I really wanted to hear the lyrics as I walked towards my husband because that's what made the song meaningful for me. The music that was played before that was all instrumental, so I thought it be unique for me as the bride. It's not that common, but I liked having the lyrics. If it makes you happy and there is a song that you really like the lyrics of, go for it!

Lol most African American weddings do NOT play the tradition aisle songs. Most of their songs have lyrics. And mine definitely will.

I was original going to walk down the aisle to A Thousand Years part 2 with Christina Perri and Steve Kazee but then I discovered and fell in with love with Speechless from Dan & Shay but I kind of like the idea of having instrumental when the bridal party walks down.

A friend of mine walked to the album version of A Thousand Years at her wedding and it was very beautiful. It wasn't too loud- just playing softly in the background- just enough so you could hear what song it was.
