Macarons as favours?

Kemmie, on October 16, 2014 at 5:25 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I was thinking of doing macarons for favours and holy they can be pricey ($2 each $3-3.50 packaged) but I found a steal of a price literally pinching myself of $125 for 200. I think the baker made a mistake but I'm not asking questions. Problem is the favour boxes are more expensive than the cookie themselves! Anyone know where I can get cheap favour boxes?

Why don't you just get the clear wrap and tie them with ribbon? It will be much cheaper.

I agree that putting them in little baggies would definitely be cheaper, but that might also crush them.

Also, I would confirm the price with the seller if you think it is a mistake. As exciting as it is, you don't want an uh-oh situation later after you've purchased macaron boxes, for example, when they actually write up the contract and it reflects the correct price.

We did macarons too. I bought some celophane bags from the dollar store and dressed them up with ribbon and a tag. It worked fine, none of them got crushed. You just have to transport them in a box and don't pile them up too high.

I gave macaroons as favors. Each guest got three macaroons in three different flavors. The colors were shades of pink. They were packaged in a clear bag and tied with pink satin ribbon and a tag with our monogram. They looked beautiful on the tables.

But they were pricey!! $7 per favor! Your price sounds really good.

I originally wanted to do macarons as a favor, but the price scared me off. My aunt will be making home made toffee and wrapping them herself. Win win!

Try creative bag... They have a bakery section and a special macaron box!

Just try to find something that is called a "box" instead of a "wedding favor box" and you should be fine! Lol. As soon as it looks wedding-y they jack up the price. Try Oriental Trading as well.

ETA: I love this idea BTW.

Mmmmmm macarons are the best. Are you getting a variety of flavours?

Dollar stores or craft stores (with sales) are probably the best place to go get boxes for them.
