Macrame centerpieces for sale with all proceeds going to the bride and groom?

Susan, on August 3, 2024 at 7:45 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
Would it be tacky to offer my macrame centerpieces for sale to reception guests with all proceeds going to the bride and groom? I'm the mother of the groom. Just want to ask here befits presenting it to the bride and groom and looking like an idiot if it would be tacky.

Etiquette is that guests should not have to pay for things at the reception. To me, it would seem in not the best taste. Also the guests might feel pressure to buy something out of obligation.

Yes, this is awkward as I've only seen centerpieces auctioned at charity events. Do not ask guests for money.

Yes, that would be tacky. And just as a practical matter, most weddings I know of, people are desperate to get anyone to take their centerpieces so they don’t have to take them all home! You may not make as much as you think if you did this.
