Macrame Wedding Backdrop diy

Does anyone have experience with making your own macrame backdrop? I absolutely love the idea but buying one for $200 is out of our budget. I completely understand why they're priced this way its just not practical for us. One of my bridesmaids has a little experience with small macrame projects and thinks we could do a Backdrop in time for our wedding in May. Im curious as to how much of a challenge it will be and how long it will take to make. Im also not sure where I would buy the supplies or kit to do it on my own. I'd love to hear any thoughts you may have! Thanks so much!! Macrame Wedding Backdrop diy 1

That’s a really pretty look! 😍 Honestly, I actually thought $200 was a good price. Especially when you consider everything that you just named (ie. not knowing how to do macrame, not knowing the supplies, not confident that your bridesmaid can even do it, etc). All of the trial and error mistakes, the money spent on supplies and the time it consumes often adds up to being more than simply purchasing it and then selling it afterward. To me, there are just some things (most things) that you leave to the professionals when it comes to your wedding. We all know.... there’s nothing worse than having DIY projects at your wedding that LOOK like substandard DIY projects. However, if you go with your bridesmaid, I’d have her show a finished product by February. That way there’s still time to purchase one by your wedding date, just in case.

The supplies aren't expensive, but it's very complicated to replicate what you've posted. That said, there are much simpler designs that you can do - my friend did one recently where she just tied a bunch of strings of yarn to a large branch. It is just hanging, but looks nice. You can always dip dye or cut the bottoms uneven. I would search Etsy for "macrame wall hanging" and get some inspiration from there, but there's a reason they cost what they do...

Hi Mckinzie! I'd ask your bridesmaid for more advice since she has some macramé experience, and also look on YouTube for tutorials!

It does look like it could take a long time to complete though, and there are some cheaper options on Etsy that are closer to $100 and even cheaper on Amazon (but I'm not sure on quality!) I'd also check out wedding decor resale sites!

Hi, my friend makes them. Here’s her website. She does custom orders for good prices

I would have your friend make one. It will be more special and meaningful that way.
