Mad Libs RSVP

Alejandra, on June 30, 2013 at 7:00 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

I want our RSVPs to be more memorable than the traditional wording. Our families aren't too happy about having to RSVP so I figured maybe if we make it more fun it would make the process more smooth. I saw this idea on Pinterest (of course) and decided to play around with it). Here is what I have come up with.

Is it confusing at all? What do you think? Any suggestions on how to improve it? I definitely need the "__ seats have been reserved for you" line bc I don't want any misunderstandings. I want the song request in there too and the special message to bride and groom. I am hoping to get some cute/funny ones and save them as a keepsake for years to come.

Love the idea! I used mad lib RSVPs for about half my invitations (my mom and some coworkers didn't get it when I showed it to them, so I decided to do more traditional ones for the older generations.) One tip I have is to add just under the blank lines what kind of word that needs to go there (can also do it at the beginning of the lines i.e.

(noun)____________________________ so that people know what type of word to write.

Suggestion: I would specify that they need to circle will/will not (circle one) - because I can see people forgetting to do that.

Another suggestion: "And promise to dance if they play "___" isn't a proper sentence. I would put "I/We promise to dance if "(song)_____________________" is played.

Here is what ours were like.

Here are what mine look like and some are coming already, however be prepared for them to just fill out their name and if they are coming and to not request a song majority of mine say don't dance we had an enclosed card for the song request.

I love the ways yours look!

You might be wondering why I said some are coming in already... my family is also the type to through a fit to rsvp. Well we invited like 150 and I need to know if we need food for 50 or 150 lol. We still need 90 -_- by Monday.

I am recruiting phone numbers now.

Thanks Michelle! I love the idea of sending a more traditional one to the older people. I have limited character space so I am trying to fit everything in lol

Colleen, my family doesn't understand either why I need to know ahead of time if they are coming. They are used to just showing up the day of if they decide to but at $60 per person, I cannot rely on their method lol

I made some changes. The font and size still needs work but that can be changed later

@Marissa, my venue includes invitations in the all-inclusive package. They gave me a website where I could choose my design and personalize it. I imagine it is a lot like Vista Print or other websites (I played around with some before I knew my venue would include invitations). It gave the traditional wording but I was able to edit it and personalize each line.

I'm not sure about other software to create these though...

I love this idea! I especially like the song request line which will help with the song list. Just a suggestion if you can still do edits, maybe make the line after (names) longer just in case they need to fit a whole family on there or if someone has a really long name. Best of luck and congrats!
