Maid of honor dress

Kimberly, on June 5, 2019 at 4:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
My matron of honor and maid of honor are both going to wear longer dresses in the same color as my bridesmaids as a special thing for providing extra help to me. But I’m having a hard time finding things, my matron of honor prefers not to spend over $40 and we need a long dark burgundy dress in an xl/16. My maid of honor doesn’t discuss money with me but I know she doesn’t have a ton to spend on the dress either and I need a 2x for her. They both get to pick what they want with my final approval. Any sites I should check out to send them ideas? (Also before anyone asks I have 2 of them because my matron of honor is a lifelong friend but not a very good maid of honor, my maid of honor is a good friend of mine I’ve also had for a fair amount of time and much more excited and better at helping. I kept my lifelong friend as matron to avoid the stress of any hurt feelings.)

Your allowed to have two MOHs and no one here would have said anything about that but I think your reasoning behind it is pretty awful. It should be about your relationship with the person and not about what they can do for you. Also, is the matron married? It’s hard to tell since you reference her as both maid and matron. If she isn’t married, then they’re just both Maids of Honor. Putting that aside, I’d look at department stores like Macy’s and maybe check Amazon. I’ve bought some plus size dresses from Amazon before under that price point and they’ve all been good quality.

They are both getting longer dresses on a budget. I’m not referring to the matron as a maid of honor as well, I see where it appeared that way and it was a typo! Smiley smile my maid of honor is now the woman I wanted to it to be in the first place because I’m much closer to her even thought I’ve known her less time... but my family advised me not to exclude the matron of honor or there would be drama. I’ve never been to a wedding with both which is why I even mention it. My matron of honor basically just wants the title without actually coming to events or anything like that and I’m really not in a place to tell her no and deal with that right now. It’s not about what they can do for me, I just need a dependable friend that I have a good relationship with which isn’t exactly an awful reason to pick someone since that’s kind of the point of the position, people don’t typically accept the title unless they realize what goes into it and I want to fully trust my girls.

Walmart.com $54.99 size options: 4-24, size chart included to measure and find the right size. There were no reviews so I bought a dress first before my girls, it came in great, so they started buying theirs. It'll be hard to find a dress under $40

I did a quick search for burgundy gown on Amazon. And there were a lot under $40. Not sure of the quality, but you could always order one and check it like Brooke did in her post above. You've got plenty of time before you need to purchase so it shouldn't be a problem.

I would check Amazon as $40 is not much of a budget for any bridal stores. Also, keep in mind that if your girls are ordering from different stores, the shades of burgundy may be different. But if you are going for that route (I am) then that would definitely work.

We’ve checked amazon but they either had sketchy reviews or the dress isn’t long enough for her because she’s 5’11” and wants floor length. :/ I’m okay if they are a little bit off, we are trying to match the shade as closely as we can! However since they will both have different dresses it’s not a huge deal if it doesn’t match perfectly.
