Maid of Honor in white?

C, on July 5, 2011 at 5:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Is it really a big deal if my maid of honor wears white? I've been hearing mixed things about this... I honestly don't think it will offset me in any way.

So your saying it isn't a good idea? Well if she doesn't wear white... I don't want her wearing any color that isn't part of the wedding color scheme which is chocolate brown and apple green? I want she and the best man both to stand out from the rest of the group... The women are wearing chocolate brown dresses... and the men are wearing all white tuxedos with apple green accents. Any suggestions?

Have her wear an apple green dress with a brown sash - that's how most people do it. If she doesn't wear a color that's a part of the scheme, then it would have to be a neutral color, like black. But I'm not sure if that would look right. To play it safe, I suggest an apple green dress.

I could see her wearing an apple green dress... how about the best man? would he then wear the white tuxedo with chocolate brown accents?

I originally wanted my bridesmaid dresses in white (I fell in love with a dress lol) but they refused to wear white they said I should be the only one in white. Honestly, to me it doesnt matter I really dont think the bridesmaids are gonna offset the bride in any way. The bride will always be the center of attention no matter what. But I guess other people dont see it like that. It really depends if you really care for the "wedding etiquette" or you dont care what other people think. Good luck =)

Its all in if it will bother you. I read somewhere that MOH and BM wore white to confuse evil spirits and keep them away from the bride (this was a long long long time ago) making it harder for the evil spirits to find the bride since the bride is usually the only one in white. So i guess if your really supersitious about that kind of thing then your MOH wearing a white dress is a good solution lol.

Yes, you can have the best man wear chocolate accents. They need to stand out from the rest of the wedding party.

O and the MOH in white me personally i wouldnt do it but now adays you see many different things so maybe not fully white but white is the colors of your other BM as an accent color....but bottom line its our wedding if you dont mind her in white then forget what everyone else says......its funny cause i like the idea of an all white wedding, brides groom BM GM and guests lol

You should do what you want. You may have some people ask you why they were in white, but if you don't care about that, go for it!

If you would like the MOH to stand out, have you considered champagne?

If all of the men are in white tuxes, I'm wondering how you are going to make the groom stick out.

Any reason why you are not having the men in brown suits????

I like the idea of reversing the colors (MOH in green, BM in brown)... I think that bridesmaids in white is trending right now because of the Royal Wedding (Pippa wore white), but IMHO if you are only putting your MOH in white, it would look odd to me.

Ordinarily, I would say it's okay. But since the Royal Wedding, you run the risk of people thinking you're trying to copy a princess Smiley smile If you don't care what they think, then go with it! You could try an off-white (blush, champagne, etc) or you could accent it with a colored sash. A friend of mine had a black and white wedding and the BMs were in white dresses with black sashes.

All the bridesmaids are in chocolate brown dresses, the MOH will be in an apple green dress, the groomsmen are in all white tuxedos with apple green accents and the bestman will be in an all white tuxedo with chocolate brown accents... My FH will be in all white so he stands out... my dress is white with silver beading ... the ring bearers will be in all white tuxedos with apple green accents, the 3 flower girls in white dresses with chocolate brown sashes... sounds like a lot but i think i have it figured out! Thanks for all your opinions =)

If it's good enough for Royalty ... mind you everyone was talking about Pippa's outfit more than Kate's afterward. Assuming you won't have the world's press at your wedding this might not be a problem - my concern would be that staff at the venue etc who can't see you both in one glace might see her in white and assume she is the bride.

How about green with a white sash? Or, if you really want her to wear white how about white with a green sash?
