Mail in Rsvp's versus an online Rsvp?

Kelsi, on January 7, 2019 at 9:58 PM Posted in Oregon Planning 0 5

Hi everyone!

I am looking for the most budget friendly but non-tacky way to have guests send in their RSVP's. My thoughts are that by using 'all-in-one' invitations with detachable RSVP slips I would save some money (because they are a cheaper option) and it would still allow those who want to send something back in (providing their own postage) happy. However, I will also list my website on the invitation for those who want to skip the hassle (and money for a stamp) to do it quickly and efficiently that way.

What are your thoughts? Is having guests pay for their return postage tacky? What are some other options I may not be considering? Let me know please!

Hey Kelsi! You've got all the RSVP options that I could think of. I don't think that having people pay return postage is tacky. I had stamps lying around my place, I'm pretty sure you can buy a single stamp at the post office, and a couple places I've worked also have stamps that you can use. There is an abundance of places that you can get stamps to return an RSVP. But you've also provided them a viable alternative, so you're good!

I personally like sending RSVPs through the mail. The physical piece of paper reminds me that I need to respond, as opposed an email that gets lost in the vast inbox that is my email.

How many invitations are you sending out?

We are sending out 109 as of now. But my fiancé’s side seems to keep remembering people they did not put on the list so you know how that goes lol. I ordered 115 to be safe

We are sending paper invitations with rsvp on our Zola site online. If we know they may be picky about etiquette or not computer savvy, we will print out a few paper rsvp cards and include the whole old fashioned deal in the invitation. We will provide the postage but it’s likely only to be a few. No way would I do all mail in rsvp! Wedding websites rsvp is the most common these days

Thank you Tiffany. My mom just recently suggested only including postage for the couple of people we know will send in a physical RSVP Smiley smile I think that’s a great idea. I wish I could do what you’re doing but unfortunately both families are very old fashioned and they were appalled at the idea of me not sending invitations in the mail! Haha. We met half way though and I sent out a virtual save the date. Thank you so much for your response

I’m sending old school paper save the dates but only bc I wanted to be sure folks got the info. My fiancé and his follow through on ensuring that everyone got the digital std leaves me nervous so I can be sure they know the date and that I also have their address correct for the invite. I think digital stds are the norm nowadays as well as online rsvp on wedding website with paper invites.
