Mailing Magnet Save the Dates

Alyssa, on January 10, 2019 at 3:22 PM Posted in Planning 1 12

Hi! So my FH and I are getting married in September 2019--I have the Save the Dates ready to mail BUT they are magnets, and will stick together if mailed in the envelopes they came with ( I ordered them from Shutterfly)--

Anyone have suggestions on what to put in the envelope so that they won't stick together? I've tested out a tiny piece of paper but that doesn't work..was thinking that soft foam that you see around picture frames sometimes? Thanks in advance!

I've heard a lined envelope or have the magnetic side facing the side with the envelope flap!

Ours came with a thicker piece of paper, almost like poster board to put in the envelope so they don’t stick.

I stuffed them like that but unfortunately they still stick together..ugh..but a lined envelope is a great thought, maybe I'll just go buy some

Hi Alyssa! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement! Smiley heart These sound so cute!

Hmm that's a complication I would have not considered until now! Smiley surprise Like Kelly mentioned, perhaps you could find a thicker piece of cardstock-style paper from a local craft store? To keep them from sticking together.

Thanks! Yeah I’ll definitely try something like that, I’d hate to waste the envelopes that they already came with.. maybe I’ll check AC Moore or Michaels for something.

Very true, especially if they came with their own envelopes. Best of luck to you in your craft-store searching, Alyssa! Smiley heart

Our magnet save the dates came with thick paper in between each one. We mailed them with the paper in the envelope.
Be careful with the amount of postage you put on your envelopes though! Ours weighed 1.1 ounces and needed extra postage. I had to purchase 21¢ stamps in addition to the 50¢ forever stamps for each envelope. I’m glad I checked before I mailed them!

Mine were from vista print. As far as I know none of them got stuck in a box. I brought them inside the post office. Roughly half our guest list is out of state so they traveled quite a ways without a problem. I got so many texts from people saying they received them so I wouldn’t really worry about it.
