Make-up Free

Mrs. Spring, on August 22, 2020 at 11:56 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 17
Hi Ladies,

I never wear make-up and I'm leaning more towards staying that way on my big day. I wore it once about a decade ago and I felt so uncomfortable with it on. Worst of all, I didn't look and feel like myself. Shouldn't one feel/look like thenselves on their wedding day?!
What are your thoughts? Will any of you be going make-up free or very little makeup?https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theknot.com/content/amphtml/bride-wears-no-makeup

I do not ever wear makeup, I also don't own any. However, I plan on getting my makeup professionally done for my wedding, but I definitely am not planning on doing anything drastic or dramatic. I don't think it's bad at all if you don't want to wear makeup for your wedding - you should get to look exactly how you want to, regardless of whether that means wearing makeup or not!

I went make up free at my wedding. I don’t wear make up either and didn’t feel I wanted to do it just for that. Wanted to be me and comfortable

I’m doing pretty natural makeup! I have a light coverage foundation. I hate the feeling of “cakey” and I want to look like myself!

Depends on your skin. For professional pics especially some that are close up I would do at least a light base to cover any imperfections and maybe lip gloss.

I usually don’t wear makeup either. But because of the nature of the event, the way I want to look in pictures I’m going with natural make up and a natural lip color. You can do a trial and tell the artist you want a very natural light look. And if you like it move forward.

Nice! I felt like I was the only one. Is it possible you could share a pic? Only if you feel comfortable, of course.

Okay I'll consider it. I can remember a decade ago telling the professional MUA to go very light and I felt like she put a lot on me. I almost cried when I looked in the mirror.
Even when i watch "very light make-up" or "the no make-up make-up look" on YouTube, the woman giving instructions is always putting on at least 10 products on her face! That is a lot to me.

I totally get it. When I did my makeup trial I was like omg she’s got an Arsenal in her bag and it took longer than I thought but she really listened to my concerns and direction. I told her I just wanted a natural glow and some eyebrows since mine refuse to grow 😩. And she delivered. I was really happy. I really hope you find an artist that can your make your vision a reality.

I don't wear make up, but I did for my minimony. I stressed that I still want to look like me, and he delivered. He asked me questions as we went along, whether I'd be comfortable with this color vs that color, how does this feel, etc. With so many close up photos, it was nice.

Also, remember that make up and its application has changed in 10 years. I always thought foundation was heavy, but I didn't even feel it and forgot I had it on. Look for a MUA who listens to you and makes you look the best version of yourself. This is a special day, which makes it okay to do something out of the ordinary if you like. If after looking around you don't find what you want, go make upless and enjoy that you have nothing to wash off at the end of the night!

May I ask how much you were charged? My FH is very against lying and says he thinks I should tell the truth to a MUA if they ask what's the occasion. In my experience, they will upcharge if you say "wedding," "vow exchange", or "elopement." When I searched for some options, most of them wanted to charge me $175!!!!! Just for very minimum make-up all because I was getting married on the scheduled day.

I suggest you do a trial and tell your make up artist how you feel about makeup and that you want to look as natural as possible. Many brides go that route. You should feel comfortable with the way you look and be true to yourself. The only reason I suggest you wear something natural is because most wedding pictures are high definition and they show every little imperfection.

Try the thumbtack app. You can find more affordable options there. You don’t have to lie just say an event your attending. My trial was about 100 I believe. And they have packages that include and exclude services like lashes, airbrushing, contouring etc.

If I were you I would go natural or very very light on the make up. You should still look like you on your wedding day, that is who you FH fell in love with. Smiley smile

I had a friend that went make-up free for her micro-wedding and she looked great. I personally used a makeup artist who specialized in natural-looking makeup. So while I did have makeup, I 100% felt that I looked like myself. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, so this was important to me.
