Make up trial for wedding in March?

Sara, on December 31, 2020 at 6:33 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
Hey ladies!

Congrats to you all! Just needing some advice. Wedding is March 2021 and was seeing if a makeup and hair trial was necessary since it’s in 3 months. Paying for a trial and then paying again for hair and make up a month later for the actual wedding? What do you think? Thank you!

Paying for a hair/makeup trial is important so you both can be on the same page as far as what they can do and you approving the look they come up with. Without one, it's a huge risk that the style may not work or it will be the wrong look and you can't change your mind after it's done on the day of.

I am doing a trial 30-60 days before our wedding date, One reason is like the PP said, so that I can develop a rapport with the stylist and align on everything ahead of time. But another reason is so that I can see how the hairstyle I want looks on me just in case I don’t like it. I THINK I know how I want to do my hair, but what if she does it exactly like I ask her, but I realize I don’t like it on me? This way, I’ll have some time to find another look and not get caught off guard on the wedding day. Smiley smile

Most will keep going at the trial until you decide you like their work on you

It depends. For my engagement photos, I didn't do a trial bc I got my hair done by my regular stylist who I've been going to for 8 years. So if you already have been serviced by the professional several times then it's unnecessary to do a trial in my opinion.

I recommend doing the trial. Your artist has so much to do from prepping your skin to finding the right look you want. When I did my trial, it took almost 3 hours for both hair & makeup. After she was done, she wrote what she used so when it comes time for my wedding it’s all there & won’t take as long.

If you are going to have any cut, even a trim, or new color, it is best to do it in the last 6 weeks. Also, a lot of people deliberately lose weight up to 3 months before the wedding, to be the size they want by alterations time. And hairdressers say that your hair that went kind of limp and dull during dieting will come back in 4-6 weeks, so they can cut with natural waves, and do a better cut of at least split ends and a first styling of your hair. I went for a trial in a hotel salon when visiting a bride whose wedding I would be in. I felt the stylist did nothing like what I had asked for, and I had given him 3 pics of what I wanted. And twice I had to stop him from using a styling spray, and a hairspray, that I had said clearly, I am allergic to these, and will have serious breathing problems. Imagine that happening hour before the wedding. I was not bride in this, I did my own. But I was MOH with a broken hand. The salon owner had me wait 15 minutes til done with someone else. And after a light shampoo, did exactly what I asked for. And I had 5 weeks peace of mind, since he did it that wedding day. He took pics, one set for him, copied one for me. That wedding day, a half hour for shampoo and cut, a less than 5 min for makeup, exactly as requested. Trials closer to the wedding, they are more likely to remember.

I would definitely recommend doing the trials so that you and your hair/makeup artist can figure out the look you're going for.
