Make up

Kayla, on December 17, 2020 at 11:26 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 13
Hiring a makeup artist gets soo expensive and im trying to make my wedding as cheap as possible (while still looking nice and romantic). Does anyone know where to go for cheaper wedding makeup done? Im not by any means good with it and will definitely need help.

    Hi Kayla!

I would suggest searching for MUA in your area through Wedding Wire's 'vendors' tab!

If you can't find a vendor that works for you through there, I would suggest asking any friends/family that are married who their MUA was! Also, you can try google searching your area, or even use social media to find MUA near you. Oftentimes, vendors that are just starting out are very affordable, but also rely heavily on social media to gain clients!

    Happy planning!

Do you have any friends who are good at makeup that you could "hire" for the day? Or maybe if there's a local beauty school you could inquire about hiring a student to do your makeup for the day? I've taken on the mindset of it's my wedding day so I might as well pamper myself but there was definitely some sticker shock when I saw how much it was going to cost to get my hair and makeup done!

If you have a MAC store in your area I think they did makeup for $65 or something? It’s been a while but the MAC store in our local Macy’s would do a free makeup application if you bought $60 worth or products. It’s been a few years since I’ve done that so prices may have changed.

Do you get your hair done at a salon? My hair salon also has make up artists and when I was looking at pricing, it was very reasonable

I recommend you shop around prices on thumbtack or even hire a mk artist to teach you how to do your own.

Prices on Thumbtack.com are on the cheaper side for professionals. Otherwise make an appointment with a MAC/Ulta salon. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable going the DIY route for many reasons, including everyday makeup is so much different from makeup for photos.

I agree with the thumbtack suggestions, professionals are usually a little cheaper on there. Also most salons have people who do makeup as well and their prices are usually way cheaper than hiring a “freelancing” MUA from what i’ve seen!

A high end makeup counter (MAC, Bobby Brown, Chanel, etc.) will do wedding makeup. I am not sure of the cost, but when I used to get mine done there for special events, it was free. You only had to purchase something, like a lip stick or gloss for touch ups.

I used Thumbtack to find my MUA and she works for a Sephora nearby! She was super reasonably priced, I talked to a few MUAs on thumbtack and they all offered great pricing. Definitely worth checking out!

I’m on the same boat! I’m asking people I know around me first or if they know anyone . Then if that does not go well I will be looking online .

My best friend did my hair and makeup so I am grateful for her. If you know someone that knows someone it will save you a lot of money.Make up 1
