Makeup and hair done for engagement photos?

Taylor, on August 10, 2016 at 8:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

I was looking through the threads before I made one and didn't see any so I think I am in the clear! Is it smart to get your hair and makeup done for the engagement photos or could I do it myself and let her edit them? Budget is getting tight and just thought I would get some ideas or suggestions of what I could for the session. Thanks a bunch!!

Maybe it depends on the look you are going for? But I personally would not want to incur that cost.

What kind of editing are you talking about? That could go really wrong.

If the budget is tight, you could even skip the E-photo.

I did my own for the engagement pictures, but my dad's hobby is photography, so he ended up taking them. I think if you are comfortable enough doing your own, go for it!

I was wondering something along those lines. I wasn't sure if I should have something simple done to my hair or just do the normal. My hair is crazy curly though so I was worried about frizz an stuff.

Do what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. Fun fact Kohl's will do makeup for free with no obligation to purchase anything but obviously they'll try to sell you something. But the people at Kohl's aren't professional so it could be hit or miss. I went once and it looked good the eye was just to dark so I had to fix it when I got home.

I did my own hair but had my makeup done. My make up artist did a fabulous job and it stayed fresh so much longer than if I had done it myself!

I got a blow out and the makeup store did my makeup for free (with a purchase). No regrets.

Thanks ladies Smiley smile I think I'm going to try and do my own cause of budget. If I hadn't already done my trial for wedding I would have used it for that but with our e photos we were trying to let it cool down some before we did them. With my photographer, she gave me a good deal that includes e photos.

You could do your hair and makeup trial the same day as E-photos. My photographer is a licensed cosmetologist so the package includes hair and makeup for the E photos!

I have a hairstyles that i've been working with for years and trust. So I simply scheduled a trim, and had her do my hair how I wanted it the same day as my picutes. As for makeup, I did it myself, and just made it my eyes a little darker so it would come across in the picutes more. And don't forget the lipstick! a pop of color goes a long way. Smiley smile

Since you have to do a trial anyways, I thought it was a great idea to schedule them both the same day! I just did that last week & im so thankful I did. The pictures were killer.

Note, these were our 2nd round of e-pics though since they came with a package. We did our original epics natural, in the backyard & I cherish them just as much. If you're not ready for a trial yet is say save the cash & do your own makeup! Epics are meant to be fun& natural

I'm just getting a blowout, and then going somewhere like Ulta for my makeup. It'll end up being about $100 total.

I had pro makeup for engagement pictures. I used it as a trial for the wedding, but I was going with a very natural look for the wedding.

Don't count on your photographer to edit anything without discussing it with them beforehand, if it takes a long time they may have to charge you more for editing.

I got mine done just because doing my makeup is a challenge for me. I ended up hating my makeup in the pics but it is what it is. It's far better than what I could do!

If you have the money to go to Sephora or MAC to get it done I say do it!

If you're doing a hair and makeup trial for the wedding and can schedule it to line up with your e-pics then I would maybe suggest going for it. The only issue would be if you didn't like the way the trial turned out of course.

I did my own hair and makeup for my e-pics since we were going for a really informal feel, it didn't matter so much to me Smiley smile

We just went with everyday hair and makeup for ours, however we did end them with throwing paint on each other so perhaps ours was a different style than yours will be... No it probably definitely is.

Might not be a bad idea to get your trial wedding makeup at least done that day. Knock out two birds with one stone?

I'm getting my hair and makeup done at the salon I plan to use for my wedding so I view it as a trial run. I never wear makeup usually so I wouldn't trust myself applying it.

I had both my hair and makeup done for e-pics. I agree with the other ladies, I also used that as my trialSmiley smile
