Makeup artist worth it?

I went for my makeup trial and overall it went okay. The contouring was too dramatic for a summer outdoor wedding and the eyeshadow was more brown than blush/gold. The eyebrows were too dark. These things can all be fixed and we talked about making the look more bridal and less dramatic. However, I was disappointed with her mascara choice and I don’t want to be snobby to ask her to change. If I’m paying for a $70 face of makeup I would like to be using something a little nicer than Great Lash. I really enjoy researching makeup products and I have mascara that would be higher quality but I don’t want to be rude. When I asked if I could bring in my own eyeshadow pallet they said they would rather use theirs so I’m not sure what is best...

I would tell her the changes you want to make. My trial was dramatic but the day of was perfect. I brought my own lipstick and I don’t think there’s anything wrong if you want to bring your own mascara. Maybe you could practice diy at home and see how it goes before you decide.

I would address those issues as you are paying her and I am sure she wants a great review. I am sure they have reasons for using their own make ups so maybe you can send her a pic of you palette and she can choose colors similar to that. You can ask if she has a different mascara but if the brand she is using or other things bother you then I would research other artists. You should feel happy on your day.

I agree like most, that you should address the issues. Unless your fine with doing your own makeup.

You should definitely voice specifically what you want! That’s what you’re paying them for.
And they want to make you look your best!
