Makeup Booking- How far in advance?

My HMUA was the very first vendor I booked in January for my December wedding because I have used her before and love her and she gets booked quickly a year in advance. I'm so glad I did because as expected she had nearly every single weekend booked last year. I think the really good ones are going to be booked in advance so I don't think it is too early at all!

I booked my MUA for my August wedding in February.

I've found that it's really important to get something booked about a year out around here. I'm surprised that your H&MU artist isn't booking, unless she's at a salon or something.

I booked my hair and makeup artist about a year out. My wedding planner told me that’s one of the most important vendors as they book up quickly. I paid a deposit and will do a trial 4-6 weeks before my wedding.

I booked mine about 8 months out. We did my trial three weeks prior to the wedding.

She has her own studio in the North Shore, but since I'm getting married in Oakland, I want her to come to the hotel. I do find it strange she didn't want to book for October, I'm definitely going to follow up and book this date.

I'm surprised she isn't booking for October. It's only 5 months away. I'm not looking because I'm going with the same one I've used for other occasions. I've talked to her and she is free. She's holding for me and I'm going to pass by to give her a deposit. If I didn't have her I would be looking in June for one.

If it was me I wouldn't wait for her. I would look around and see if there is someone else I'm interested in.

I booked my hair and makeup people at just over a year out so I wouldn't have to worry about it later. I will deal with the trials closer to the wedding.

I booked my HMU in November 2017 for my May 2018 wedding.

I just did mine recently - about 3 months out from the wedding, but I'm seeing that isn't the norm.

I tried to book someone 9 most out from my wedding. They had no availability despite my Sunday morning time.

I booked mine in November for my June wedding. My trial is 6 weeks before the wedding.

I booked mine in March for my wedding in August of next year. 🙂

I booked my HMUA in January for my October wedding. October is obviously super busy so I'd be nervous if she won't commit to putting you in now. Do you use her often? I agree with JuneBride that it might be a good idea to look at other options just so you don't get screwed come summer and find out that she's already booked and now you're clamoring to find anyone.

yes I contacted her asking if I can make a deposit to hold the date. Awaiting a response. Since it’s friday not sure if I will get a response this weekended

I booked my HMUA for my May 2019 wedding this month (April 2018) 13 months in advance! They book uo fast. One of my choices was already booked!
