Makeup - Educate Me Please - Why so expensive?

Jayme, on September 19, 2018 at 4:02 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

So I am not a girly girl I suppose. I don't spend tons of time wearing make up but when the right occasion calls, I will put some on but it's very simple and light. I am researching bridal makeup as well as service for my BP. Why in the world is it so expensive? I'm seeing prices around $65-85 per BP and starting $ for me $150-$275. Smiley amazing

It makes me sad. Maybe I need to be educated in the services provided. Can anyone shed some light?

Maybe I should just do what I usually do and not stress it. I didn't wear any make up for my engagement pics and I feel they turned out fine. My photographer has some mad editing skills I guess!

I found my makeup and hair person at a local salon. Could you try there and see what they have to offer?

I know it's often hard to put a price on a skill rather than a product but you are essentially paying for an artist to spend an hour or more working on you, no to mention the products they are using. Good makeup and brushes are expensive! There is no comparison between everyday makeup and professional make-up. You will be photographed in different kinds of light and the make-up will last all day and well into the night. Also, if they commit to working on you and your wedding party, that generally precludes them from taking any other job for that day.

The girl doing mine is charging 65 per girl including fee ing myself so mine isnt any extra...over 200 seems like a lot for just one day of makeup. But you deserve to look your best so maybe treat yourself it's your day anyways!

I personally would pay that per person. It seems fair.

Mans I also understand you are paying for a skill. I truly do. But I would love to know why the bride costs almost triple than the bridal party. Are there certain shamanistic rituals that take place before face paint? It blows my mind to see that the average here is $150-$275.

Mom not knocking anyone that does this by any means. I am truly seeking a justification of the price difference I suppose. Thanks for the comments!

If you think about it from the makeup artists perspective, you may think it's not that bad. I'm paying $210 for bridal hair and makeup, and $175 per bridesmaid & mother for hair and makeup. (Hopefully) each artist went to school, an investment for them obviously, they've also had to invest in buying & updating makeup, brushes, cleaning items, carrying cases, etc. They also travel for trials & for weddings, then the time to do the makeup as well. If you're wanting cheaper options, I'd look to Sephora or Ulta, or a local beauty college. They usually have rates closer to $50 for makeup!

The bride is usually more because this includes a trial nefore the wedding day, so essentially you are having your make up done twice. At the trial they should spend a significant amount of time discussing what you want, trying different colors and techniques until you're happy. Yours may also include lashes or even some special skin care.

That seems like a good price to me. In my area the cheapest I can find for just myself is $400+

Ya I'm not sure why yours shoukd br any more money? I could even see 20 bucks more if shes spending more time on you but double or triple? Seems ridiculous. Have you compared to anyone else for pricing?
