Makeup & hair advice

Erica, on July 28, 2019 at 1:52 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 2
Hi ladies! So I needed advice from others on the best time to get hair and makeup done the day of the wedding.

my church starts at 2pm and I’m going to do a pre photo shoot with my bridesmaids & mother. I’m not doing pictures with he groom until after the church because I believe the groom shouldn’t see me until then so I’m not doing a first look or anything.

I wanted to see if its best to do makeup first or hair first & how early should I get it done because I forsure want to look fresh for my pictures after the ceremony 😊

I suggest talking to your HMUA and photographer to coordinate a timeline. If you do a trial with your HMUA then it will help determine how much time it will take (average is about 2 hours for the bride if you get hair and makeup done). As far as the order of which goes first, usually the hair will go first and then the makeup. If you're getting your makeup professionally done then it should look fresh all day. My ceremony started at 3 p.m. and here was my timeline of getting ready in the morning and some pics throughout the day from when I got the makeup applied to the very end of the night (noon through 11 p.m.):

9-12:30 bridal party met in the bridal suite to get ready; breakfast and lunch served

12:30-1 photographer arrived to get detail shots and "getting ready" shots

    1-1:30 first look

1:30-2:45 wedding party and VIP pics

    3-4 ceremony

    4:15-11 cocktail hour and reception

    Hi there Erica!

I second what Earias advised and recommend you speak with your HMUA and photographer to figure out your day-of timeline.

Have you booked your HMUA yet? Do you know how long it is going to take?
