Makeup Help!

Jesse, on May 21, 2021 at 7:58 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
My wedding is a bit fair out (about a year still), but I’m just curious on what people think, since I’m not sure what I’d like to do yet! My MOH is really into doing makeup, specifically eye makeup, and is great at it! She mentions to me she could do mine for the wedding day, but I’m not quite sure if I want her to do it or a professional. My complexion is fairly light & I have oily skin issues, so I want to make sure the makeup lasts all day. What are everyone’s thoughts? And if anyone’s had their MOH (or friend/family) do their makeup, lemme know how you liked it!

I would rather relax and pay a professional. I am not skilled at makeup but my sister is, and a couple other ladies I’m planning to ask are also not savvy. I want them to relax and be pampered as well. For all day, you need primer, setting spray and high quality makeup specifically designed for high definition photography that only a professional artist owns.

I did my own makeup as MOH in my sister's wedding and it turned out perfect, probably the best makeup I've ever done lol. Being very involved in the beauty industry, IMO the only problem can arise if you dont have the proper makeup that won't cause flashback & completely wash you out.

I have friends who are great with makeup & did offer. However, I felt more comfortable with hiring a professional.

Hire a professional. It’s easier to give notes and changes to someone you’re paying. Also, you MOH should be enjoying herself and attending to you throughout the day!

I would have her test out a few looks on you before committing to anything. Being really good at doing your own makeup is a lot different than being able to pull off similar looks on someone with a different complexion, face shape, and skin type than you.

Ask if you can do a "girls night" where she dolls you up or have her help you get ready for a work or social function you are going to. Don't make it anything about the wedding. I would do a few test runs like this (just for fun) before committing to having her be responsible for your wedding day look.

Thanks all! This really helps for determining what I’d like to do for makeup day of. I’m leaning towards a professional so everyone (including myself) can just relax morning of & all get pampered.
