Makeup Help

Stephanie, on April 28, 2021 at 12:27 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

Hi! I need help please. I have 5 Bridesmaid who will be getting their makeup done on the day of wedding. How do I determine who goes first? I have 1 makeup artist for all of us, I know the maid of honor will go before me.

Please help.

You should place yourself somewhere in the middle to later half, to ensure there's enough time to do yours without rushing.

You should ask your makeup and hair person how long they expect to need per person, but mine have told me 1.5 hours for hair, 1 hour for makeup.

Usually what tends to happen is that hair turns up first and starts on person A, then makeup turns up and starts on person B. When person A is done with hair, person C starts with hair, and so on. Sometimes hair brings an assistant and can start doing things like curls to form the basis for an updo while the main person is doing hair and the makeup person is doing someone else.

Hopefully this is clear, and helps!

Thank you Rosie for the advice, I just want to make sure everyone has time to get things done. I have a strict timeline of 2:30pm everyone should be done so bridal pictures can be taken.

You'll want to ask your makeup artist for guidance in creating the schedule. You should also make sure to consult your hair person on how to coordinate the timing. As the bride, you should definitely get your hair done before your makeup, but some bridesmaids will need to get them done in the opposite order. I'd consult both vendors (or if it's the same vendor) for help in creating the schedule

Thank you for the advice, I will ask the vendors when the time gets closer to create a timeline.

My MUA will be providing a timeline. She did inform me that she allots an hr for BM makeup, 2 hrs for bride (she overestimates just in case). Some of the bridal party will also be getting hair done through her, but I’ll have a separate stylist. Most of the time, the bride especially will get her hair done before makeup, but I anticipate that hair will probably need some touch ups after, so I’m going to keep my stylist around just in case.

Put your most punctual, reliable, ‘morning person’ bridesmaid first. 😁 It’s probably going to be an early start and if the first person is late the makeup artist either has to rush or cut time from other bridesmaids to get everyone done in time.
