MAKEUP PRICE??!?

ACM123, on January 7, 2010 at 10:16 PM

I am not very good with makeup, so DIY is out of the question. I have gone to a couple different places, but I have no idea what a good price is. I have four lovely ladies in my wedding party, 5 with myself. Any ideas on what to look for and what to do? Should the makeup be done on location?

I honestly wouldn't trust a consultant or MAC sales person to do my wedding day make up. If you do feel you have to go that route, make sure to do a trial session so you know exactly how good they are

I really loved the airbrush feel and how it looked. It was very difficult to take off at the end of the day when I was going to sleep and it also looked great on pictures. The best part was that it never rubbed off and it looked great all day.

Oh wow. I didn't know that airbrush makeup lasts all day. That is a huge plus. I need it to hold for ALL DAY

You have gotten some good advice so I wont repeat, just make sure you also have a trial. I at the moment don't offer airbrush makeup but I have never had an issue with any bride saying the makeup didn't last, so traditional makuep, if using good products made for photography should give the same results, however its a personal preference.

Consider what you're paying for your flowers, your photographer, dresses, catering, etc. This is the ONE day you have the perfect dresss, the expensive pro photographer and everyone's hair is done usually - why skimp on your FACE? You will be photographed the most on this date than any other, typically. As a pro, I consider it the last bit of polish, seriously. It ties everything you planned for together. Always judge a makeup artist on their portfolio of work - if they don't have one you have nothing to go by - and then ultimately a trial will give you an idea - as well as looking at local brides and asking who did THEIR makeup. Price is generally by their demand and expertise as an artist. Whatever you decide, always plan ahead and book them with your hairstylist if possible - to come to your hotel or where you're getting dressed. It's a huge time and stress saver!
