Makeup suggestions

Kelly, on July 3, 2019 at 12:24 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

Hi everyone! I'm looking to do my own makeup for my wedding and have been researching the best foundations for my skin type. I'm looking for something with full coverage for acne scarring that won't melt off my face during the day and will look great in pictures. I've narrowed my choices down to the products below. Has anyone used these before and could provide some advice on why I should or shouldn't use them? Thanks!!

- Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Foundation

- Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation

- Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

Foundation is one of those things that reacts completely different depending on the person. I would go into Sephora or Ulta and ask for a sample of the ones you’re interested in.

I would get some sort of setting-powder to put on top of your makeup to avoid sweating it off!

    1. I would also look into a makeup primer. This will help smooth your skin and allow for the foundation to be applied without caking or making lines/scars look deeper.

    2. I would invest in a sponge blender. It is the closest to having and airbrushed look. In high quality pictures you may be able to see your finger prints if you use your hands to apply foundation.

    3. Get a setting spray. It is essentially face lacquer. Your makeup won't move from crying to kissing to hugging your makeup will stay on your face.

Shape Tape by Tarte is definitely full coverage foundation and they have a wide range and is long lasting. If you use their concealer and a setting powder you'll be set.

I would find a great primer, and a good setting spray or powder. I like this primer because it helps so much with acne & redness:

I'd also keep your skin well moisturized & exfoliated so you aren't dry when the makeup goes on. I don't often use a setting spray or powder but I prefer powder since I get oily. The setting spray/powder will help a lot with long lasting.

Oh this product looks great! And it hasn't caused any breakouts?

My skin tends to get oily too, powder might be the safer route. I have a translucent powder I use daily, but I think it might make me look like a ghost with flash.

Not that I've noticed, I tend to break out pretty easily. But I have a strict skincare routine daily/weekly/etc. and I don't wear a ton of makeup during the week. It's super lightweight so it doesn't make me breakout.

I'm doing my own makeup too! I'm an oily gal and planning to load up on the primer, powder, and setting spray in layers. The plan right now is to use the 1) Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer 2) Laura Mercier Translucent Powder 3) Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Foundation 4) Tarte Shape Tape Concealer and 5) Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I would say to just avoid anything with SPF as that can create flashback!

Also, focus not only on your makeup, but nailing down a great skincare routine - having a good base to start with is essential. Korean skincare has personally improved my skin a lot!
