To achieve that look, you would need to do a darker shadow above the crease and out past the outer corner of tee. Add false eyelashes but don’t get the giant ones you think. Shorter, more natural would work.

Thanks. Would you go for something with some shimmer or keep it more matte? I feel like my eyes are my best feature, but I don't wear makeup often and I've never worn fake lashes. My eyes are hazel, so my go to is a lightly shimmered purple shadow and black liner on top and bottom. I've also never done anything with my eye brows except shaping them and making sure there are always 2 😂

I prefer to use a make up app and use my photo to do it, because everyone has different feature and need different way of make up. There are many free apps. Give it a try on your own face 🥂

Highlighting your cheeks , and doing lips, in a color as in 3. And a lighter hand on the foundation, more sheer than a mask, unless you are covering blemishes or scars, and that is the only way. The goal for me is not a mask, simply evening off discolorations, so a more natural look. And a sheer foundation, and a gel blush on cheeks first, with a touch of additional powder blush to highlight cheeks, touch on forehead and skin so your skin looks more natural pinkish white. Eyes, a little color over starting at the middle of the eye and going outward and up. Almost none close to nose.
Not the heavy dark lashes of these models. #1 looks like a colony of little spiders lives in the outer corner of her eyes, not at all attractive. I think they are all overmade -up.

“Look like a colony of little spiders” 🤣 I like that saying! I was suggested a medium fake lashes and it looked hilarious I kept laughing at my reflection. I can’t. It made me think of those car-lights deco lashes 😂

And you say, what was MA thinking? I was getting made up first time for a little theatre production of Caberet. That is supposed to be high contrast and shadows, evening club make-up. But the lashes were too much all different trials, and I kept complaining. The really mad by now MUA called the director. He said, Why have you put two halves of a mustache, on her eyes. Yes! It takes very little extra lashes for most looks.

Try a back brown liner on top and bottom corners. Go to ultra if they’re open by you and look at lashes and try before you get married. You want to make sure they come with glue or buy small tube. I have worn makeup for a long time and I’ve done eyelashes once. They feel weird but you can take on and off. The eyelid to crease a light purple shimmer would be awesome. Than a brown above. You could also try using an eyelash curler instead of lashes? I think your brow are lovely and I agree a little pink blush.

The biggest thing I see here is the dark liner you use - blending it out a bit and not fully lining your whole eyes would result in a softer, more romantic look.

I'm fair skinned and personally find that if I ever use liner on my bottom lids it looks way too harsh and goth. Instead, use a dark brownish black eye shadow and a precise eye shadow or liner brush to line my lower lids. Apply to only the outer 1/2 of the lower lid (I usually start at the outer corner, where it should be darkest/thickest, and then move towards the middle of the eye, making it softer/thinner as I go). This will help prevent your eyes from looking so "closed" from doing dark liner all the way around.

You also need to add some color to your face - a VERY subtle contour and blush will go a long way in giving your face some depth and definition.

My recommendation is watch a BUNCH of YouTube videos. There are so many good tutorials out there. I watched some starting when we got engaged and went from never wearing makeup to being able to do a decent job in just a few full face attempts.

Also, consider just having your makeup done by a pro for your wedding. It isn't cheap but neither is makeup. I probably spend more money on makeup just trying to figure out what products worked for me than I would have if I just decided to have a pro do it.

I did like learning how to do makeup though and it ended up being good because we eloped on our original day and I couldn't get my makeup done. I do plan on having a pro do it for the big wedding though, just because it would make it feel extra special.

I like the first option. I prefer matte eye shadows that way your eyes will be the star. I would get very light weight fake eyelashes if you are going to wear them and also practice this look a lot with wearing the falsies.

One of the most thoughtful , turned out great, gifts I ever got, was for my sweet sixteen birthday, an early gift because I was leaving the country as an exchange student just before my B'day. My auntie paid a hairdresser and cosmetologist to give me lessons, in her shop, an Hour at a time. First, how to make up MY face, in different looks. Natural everyday, dress up day wear ( professional look), more formal and dressy evening or formal. And club or stage, high definition, high contrast, high color, for low light/ spotlights. Because she was not trying to sell her line of anything, she had me buy affordable items to start. And lash curler, cleansing cream, cotton and cotton swabs. And a couple hardware store alligator clips used for electronics, and narrow cloth washable ribbon. clips knotted on about 7" of ribbon to hold any hotel or home towel or papertowels to protect clothes, or a cloth napkin I always pack. The last two lessons, how to put up my own hair. What are called french braids and a braided chignon ( though my native tribe always did them, not French), a chignon, french twist and a pony tail to braid and pinned up. The one time cost was less than many brides pay for one day, and I got 5 lessons. Learning to do it myself, lessons and two videos she gave me, has stood me in good stead for 22 years. For a character in a little theatre part, a MUA establishes the look one time. I can duplicate it. When my hair was short, or cut to shoulders, I learned styling those. I go natural around the house. But work up clise, and in medical and food service, out front, every hair must be in place, always neat. I can go step into shower to dressed, hair, MU done in 40 minutes with french braids or any time consuming look with hot rollers. Took 1 1/4 hour wedding day. When at an all day to evening thing, If sweaty or changing look to go out, taking makeup, washing, doing it completely new is a less than 10 minute thing. Never look overheated on a long hot day. Those who reccommend videos I think are so right. Don't choose ones pushing a product line. And learn different looks. You will have that knowledge always, updated every few years as your skin changes texture with age. I think 3 of us commented on starting with the middle of your eyes and going out, for example. Your models are more club wear or stage styles, far more bold outlines to eyes , darker colors, less color on skin than you would want face to face at a wedding. Videos for a more natural day look would likely be more helpful to imitate. List the comments people have said, and I think you will see it. Learn to do your own. If you like a pro now and then, fine. But you are with you, always.

Light to medium makeup hand with eyes in these pictures, to practice. Nothing in corners near nose. More sheer with a blush in the pinks or rose family, less flat matte foundation of powder. Better to practice a toned down look. Then if you want to extend the upper lid lining out more, or use something other than grey smudge or coppery on middle and outer upper lid, and a little peachier lighter look toward brow. Get a basic pretty face. Later, practice accentuating outer eye, or a more varied palette of colors. Makeup suggestions? 7

Thank you, Kari. I am having a professional do it, but I have never done any of this before, so I made the assumption that I should be able to tell the artist what I'm looking for, or at least have some ideas. I normally do not wear makeup except on special occasion (you may have seen my other forum questions, but I'm trying to heal my skin - a lot of breakouts under my chin and front of my neck). I may still practice some of the skills you all were so kind as to share with me Smiley shame I have 2 daughters and I'm starting to feel bad that I don't know enough to teach them should they be interested in this sort of thing LOL and one is a little diva, so she may challenge me to get better at this soon! Smiley flower Thank you again!

Thank you, Molly Smiley shame I'm not sure about fake lashes, but I want to have an idea or two to discuss with the artist when I go in for my trial run.

Oh I think you can just show some inspo photos to your makeup artist and they should be able to do the work for you!

Side note: The salon I go to does makeup lessons/workshops on occasion (actually taught by the HMUA I will use for my wedding). It might be worth seeing if your MUA or a local salon does something similar. It could be fun for you to learn or maybe you could even bring your girls!
