Makeup trial

Pang, on June 27, 2021 at 11:42 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
Hey guys. I recently had my hair and makeup trial done. The overall look was okay. I guess I wasn’t very good at communicating my vision. I had pictures to show my MUA what I had wanted but it didn’t really turn out as I had imagined.

Is it okay to change my mind when I go back for my actual makeup? When I got home I took some notes as to what I liked and what I felt was missing.
I also wanted to test the longevity of the makeup. Later that evening when I took off my makeup, my skin was so unbearably itchy and is still itchy to this day. Does anyone have any recommendations or what may have caused my skin to act this way? I haven’t worn makeup in over 2 years so I wasn’t sure if my skin just had a bad reaction to it.
Thanks.

It could have been the foundation product they used, or possibly, the primer? Did it itch when it was on?

If this was me, I would contact the person and say something like 'thank you so much for my trial the other day. I think I would like to make the following changes on the day: A, B, C and D. Thanks so much, and looking forward to the final result!" or whatever.

Do you need help with wording the changes you'd make? Happy to help, if you share a pic of what you got, and what you wanted Smiley smile

Oh you know that would be nice.

This was my inspiration picture. Makeup trial 1
This is what it looked like In the end. I wanted that nice glow the girl in the inspiration picture had.
Changes: a winged liner or something some shimmer on the eyeMore blush. I’m not sure what color to ask for. No lip liner or maybe something that matches the lips more. Makeup trial 2
I came home and added some more blush and took off the lip she put on. Makeup trial 3
Maybe it’s fine the way it is and I’m just being picky. Lol

The fact that you haven’t worn makeup in years is irrelevant. You had an allergic reaction to whatever she used and you need to let her know that so she can use different products instead. It is very common to have more than one trial and have different ideas for what you want. However you need to be on the same page and address everything clearly before you leave. Do not leave the trial unhappy.

Hmmm.. DEFINITELY needs a shimmery shadow on the lids.

The foundation she used isn't overly glowy, but often this is the trade-off when using a longer-lasting, heavier foundation that might not last out the day. Even so, asking for a more dewy, or glowy finish might help. That said, I actually think the foundation looks nice on you how it is!

I think the addition of more blush is a good idea, and to get closer to the look you posted, have you considered false lashes?

I think that the lipstick colour IS a good match and pretty, but the shaping is a bit harsh. So I'd ask them to soften that down. That said, your natural lip colour is really nice, you look lovely bare-lipped and could just go for a gloss!

I think it's such a natural, pretty look that every element needs to be on-point, but with a few little tweaks it will look closer to what you asked for!

Ok I think the blush was perfect in the initial photo, but I think the MUA should have added fake eyelashes (if you're cool with them) and shimmery eyeshadow, and a more dewy/glowy lip look. I honestly think it's just the matte colors for the eyeshadow and lipstick that are holding this look back from accomplishing your vision. And this look is really all about the eyes, and then some focus on the lips! If another trial isn't practical, would it possibly help put your mind at ease to look through the MUA's portfolio and find other looks with shimmery eyeshadows and fake eyelashes? Then you will know that the MUA can execute the vision, and it's just a matter of communicating the request (like Rosie suggested) and then double-checking it on the wedding day. Like if you may not feel comfortable communicating "umm can you please tweak this? or make sure to add the shimmery eyeshadow we talked about via email?" on the day of the wedding, I would recommend asking someone to help monitor the progress as you're getting your makeup done and then that person can be the communicator to make sure your vision is executed perfectly!!

Also, the girl in the photo is definitely wearing false lashes. I think with heavier winged eyeliner, false lashes, more blush, and more highlighter you would be closer to the look you’re going for.
