Making your own aisle runner

Erin, on September 26, 2017 at 8:56 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

So I am planning on making my own burlap aisle runner. I was going to add some stencil work down the middle and adding lace and ribbon on the outside. My question is do you need to put anything on the ends weight it down so no one is tripping on the runner.

Depending on the flooring surface underneath, I would use double sided carpet tape. Take special care with the ends as that is where someone is most likely to catch a heel.

If you don't want your guests walking on it before the processional, rope off that aisle with ribbon. Your guests can enter the pews from the other side.

I don't think you have anything to really worry about. People may trip on it regardless of weights.

To combat this you could have the runner rolled out by groomsmen or a willing family member right before you walk down the aisle. This way it won't get trampled or warped out of place by your guests walking all over it.

You can also add aisle decorations or, if your wedding theme permits, rocks at the far corners and around the midpoint of the runner (at the edges of course).

Please reconsider. Fabric and heels equals America's Funniest Videos. At best you'll invest valuable time and money into something that will be stepped all over and thrown away. Consider decorating the sides of the aisle with flower petals or skipping floor decor all together. Best wishes!
