Maldives Honeymoon

Chanel, on May 19, 2019 at 12:47 AM Posted in Honeymoon 3 6
Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are trying to plan our honeymoon. We are getting married next May and really want to go to the Maldives and stay in an over water villa. Has anyone planned/been to the Maldives? If you have, did you use a travel agent and where did you stay? Thanks Smiley smile

Hi Chanel! We were looking into the Maldives because they do offer one of the "cheaper" over water villas (besides Panama, but they are super rustic). We decided not to however because the flight times are crazy long. One thing to keep in mind if you are having a shorter honeymoon or hate travel/airport lay overs. Happy planning!!!

    Hi Chanel,

I am so excited for you! A couple of tips: spring for extra leg room on the flight if you or your husband are 5'10" or taller, and spend a few days in Singapore to acclimate to the time.

We stayed at Cinnamon Dhonveli as it met our criteria: I wanted the overwater bungalow experience, and my husband wanted to be able to walk out and surf! We had to use a specific travel agent who specializes in surf trips (Waterways Travel), as the resort limits the number of surfers at any given time - this is a nice feature so that there are no crowds in the lineup. If surfing is not a factor, you can book direct with the hotel.

There are a LOT of resorts out there - you just have to decide what features are important to you. Congratulations and happy honeymooning!

We're stop between Bali and Maldives. We looked in Bora Bora since the flight times were alot shorter but it looks like there are more thing to do in Maldives.

When researching, we found the most cost-effective way was booking direct with hotel, and getting a separate flight.

Hi there. We’re currently in the process of planning our Maldives honeymoon (also getting married next May). I’m a travel nut so I’m doing it all myself, there are some good sites that give you all of the local information you’ll need (remember Maldives are a Muslim country so there are some cultural things you’ll want to take into account both while booking, as well as while planning your travel attire).
