Male bridesmaid/ female groomman 5
Hello lovelies I have a question has anyone on here ever had a Male bridesmaid or a female groomsmen. I'm asking cause me and my FH have a set of twins we have been friends with forever it's a boy and a girl but the twist is the Male is more feminine and the girl is a total Tom boy so I was talking with my fiance and asked him if he wanted the girl to be his groomsmen and I wanted the boy to be my bridesmaid cause I knew the girl would have turned it down she hates dresses or anything girly so if anyone has had a similar dynamic for thier wedding can you tell me the pros cons if any and how people reacted to it TIA

My Fh has two women on his side: his sister and a college friend who’s a female. They chose to both wear dresses but they’re in the same color as the men’s tuxes. And we’re buying them the pin on corsages rather than a boutonnière or a bouquet: it kinda blends the feminine bouquet with the masculine boutonnière. It hasn’t happened yet but people have been super excited about it. We’r calling it the bridal brigade and groom’s guild or just “groom people and bride people”

We had my sister in laws as groomswomen but it had nothing to do with them being masculine or feminine. They are closer to my husband than me so they wore a dress the same color as the groomsmen’s tux and stood on his side. Wedding parties should be the people you’re closest to regardless of gender or what they typically wear.

It’s really all about how you feel about it and how the twins feel! People who have negative things to say will find something negative to talk about so I let things like that run down my back. Most of our bridal party are LGBT so we gave everyone the option of dress, jumper, or dress. So far everyone went with dresses or the tuxes for the males in the party. We also didn’t want the girls in black dresses (it looked too funeral like to me) so we changed the color scheme to gray for the groom’s side

My FH is having his best friend (who is a female) as one of his groomsmen! She is going to be wearing a dress the same colors as their tuxes Smiley smile
There is no rule that says it HAS to be this certain way or it is unacceptable, I mean, who is going to tell us we can't do that? At the end of the day it's yall's day and you should do what is set on your heart to!
    Hope this helps!

My FH was a bridesman for one of his good friends (and she is going to be our officiant!). He wore the same suit as the groomsmen, but had his tie in a different color to match the bridesmaid dresses. For our wedding, I'm asking my older brother to be part of my bridal party. Like others have said, it's about having the people you love standing beside you!

This is way more common than you think. My daughter in law had her brother as her “best man” and I’ve Ben to several weddings that have had girls in the boys side and vice versa. To me it’s all about the people you love being there for you so I say go for it.

I have a bridesman on my side. He is not feminine at all so he will be wearing what the groomsmen are wearing.

I had a bridesman. He wore the same thing the groomsmen wore except his bowtie was pink because my bridesmaids were in pink. The groomsmen had green bowties

I say go for it! Your wedding should be customized exactly how you want it.
My fiancé and I only have two people we would want in our bridal party. Both happen to be guys. We also have a male officiating. I don’t want to be standing in a sea of tux’s at the alter. So we opted to have our two friends be flower men instead of groomsmen.
    Enjoy your big day!

Yes! My Maid of Honor is actually a Man of Honor, he is my best friend. And my FH cousin is standing on his side as his groomswoman. Personally I don't like/didn't feel comfortable with all the boys have to be on the groom's side and all the girls on the brides. I think it should be the people who I love and support me should be on my side, and same for him regardless of gender.

Now for what they wear. On my side, everyone is wearing a shade of purple, and on his side, they are all wearing a green tie, and his cousin is wearing a green dress. We did play around with her wearing a suit, but she is more comfortable in a dress.

When it gets down to it - I personally just want everyone to be comfortable, so I give people options on what to wear, but then they can pick it! (I've attached a screenshot of what my wedding party will wear, I did this so I could visualize the colors better)
