Manicure etiquette

Bridget, on June 29, 2019 at 12:02 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 23
A few weeks ago I won a free manicure so I used it today to prepare for my bridal shower. I went in wanting an ombré French manicure but they couldn’t do it so I just did a regular French manicure. I really like the manicurist but I’m NOT happy with how these turned out. I mean I couldn’t honestly done them and had the same turn out. Is it okay to go back tomorrow and see if I can just do a regular polish instead? I don’t want to be rude or get the girl in trouble butttt they’re just very messy. I didn’t say anything at the salon because 1. I was freezing and couldn’t wait to get out and 2. It was a manicure I won and felt bad complaining.

That’s kind of tricky in my opinion. I’d ask to get them redone the next day but be prepared for a no since you did leave.

As long as you go the day after and don't wait any longer than that they'll usually fix their errors no problem. Some might complain to you that you didn't say anything before you left, but you had circumstances. If they still complain just say you had to go someplace on time and you were trying not to be late.

OMG! 😧That’s a horrific job they did on your nails (this is coming from a person who regularly gets their nails done and is currently wearing french ombre). I’m in shock by what they did. All the jagged lines, uneven white tips and areas of missing paint color. I saw the pics before reading and figured you did them yourself. 😬

Since they were free, maybe they stuck you with a student. Also since they were free, I’d chock it up and just never go there again. I think the red flag was when they said that they can't do french ombre. WTH?? So sorry that happened but thankfully they were free and all you lost was time.

I've gone back to my nail salon because I've chipped a nail two days later and they've fixed it free of charge. I would definitely go back and say something. Free manicure or not, the quality should be the same. If nothing else, have them take the polish off and you can paint them yourself at home.

Did you give a tip? If you gave a tip, it's hard to go back now and say you got a terrible manicure...and if this one was not good, I would not be confident that the next one will be good too.

I'd chalk it up to experience and go someplace where you know you will get a good manicure.

Oh wow.. I'm sorry, it looks like one of those you'd do yourself with tape and white polish. Definitely wouldn't go there again

Um no offense, they did a terrible job! They did the same to me (though I paid) and I wish I had fixed it because it bugged me all day. Speak up lady!

I would pay to go somewhere else. It was free, and you did leave.

I love getting my nails done and I learned after a bad experience (not as bad as yours though) that I speak up. As the person doing my nails if I want them a little shorter or more round square I now tell them at the time. You don’t have to be hateful but just nicely say “I’m sorry but I really don’t like the way these look”. I would have spoke up after a few fingers so they didn’t waste their time or my time with me not being happy. I say you call and explain that you didn’t say anything because you didn’t want to get anyone in trouble but you aren’t happy with the way they turned out and you were hoping to use this experience as a trial for your wedding. See what they say. They are in a business to make money not have bad reviews. If they don’t make it right then you can decide if you would like to let others know if your bad experience.

If it was free it was probably a student or trainee. I would honestly go some where else instead.

It was free because I won a gift card, it was an experienced tech that did them. I should’ve known when she began telling me how hard French manicures are. I’m on my way there to get them redone

I did tip because regardless of the service provided I still value the techs time. I’m on my way there now to get them fixed 😊

My nail salon will fix any errors within 7 days. Those look pretty bad though. I hope they don’t give you a hard time. Good luck.

Yikes that’s absolutely terrible! I would absolutely have them correct it or redo it (and wear a sweater lol). And definitely go somewhere else for your wedding nails

Yeah, that doesn't look good at all, it's super messy looking! I'd ask them to paint one color for sure and use someone else for your wedding.

Honestly, if you're going to do something simple like that I would fo them yourself our have a friend help you! Make an even white like and clean it up/shape your smile line with a brush dipped in polish remover.

They are awfully messy for being done in an actual salon. Maybe ask for a different tech?
