Marble tile place cards and meal selection

umami13, on August 18, 2020 at 8:31 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

I see these sort of place cards all over Pinterest and other wedding websites (http://acoastalbride.com/diy-calligraphy-marble-place-cards/) and I'm looking into doing this for my wedding next year but I have some practical concerns.

We are having a plated meal so how would you show the choice of meal on the place card without ruining the aesthetic of it? Or would you have a separate paper traditional placard with the meal selection? I'm really not sure. Has anyone had these at their wedding or have any ideas on how to elegantly accomplish this?

Some people will add a colored sticker on to their place cards. So maybe if there’s some kind of cute sticker you can find in different colors

We are doing this as well but having a buffet. When I was looking I saw that different inks or bases holding the tile in different colors meant food choice. Or different wood stains if you are doing something with wood. You can also have a colored piece of paper glued or taped to the back for dinner but that can easily be removed so these can still be a cute favor later

I went to a wedding where the place card writing was different colors to represent different meal choices. Maybe do black, silver and gold? Or whatever three colors tie in with your scheme. I can’t get the link to open so I’m not sure what it looks like but I’m familiar with the style you are referencing.

Different ink colors could definitely work if that works for your caterer!

You could also do a meal symbol, like the little animal icons frequently used in place cards like this:

I am loving the symbol on the placecards! It's fun, simple, small and accomplishes the job.
