March beach wedding

Almost_an_Eddington, on December 7, 2018 at 11:12 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12

So we are having our ceremony on the beach in NC in March! Has anyone else had a beach wedding in a colder month? How did it turn out? I looked up average temps and they say 64 degrees but I am still pretty curious.

FH and I have vacationed in NC in March and the weather has always been beautiful (minus the super cold water)!

We got married in late October on the Central coast of California. The average high was the same as yours, 65. I knew we could end up with a very windy, foggy, cold day. So we asked our guests to dress in layers and I bought a bunch of inexpensive throws from Ikea, just in case it was cold.

It was the most beautiful day. Better than I could have ever imagined. Sunny and 75. Not a bit of wind or fog.

I think you never can tell what the weather will be, so I would just go for it!

Oh and I forgot to add that we used a rug (since we were both barefoot) on the sand for the ceremony, in case the sand was too hot or too cold.

I'm from the eastern part of NC and it's still pretty chilly in March. And windy for that matter.

Ugh. Hopefully we wont have to go to our plan B which would be getting married at the reception venue.

Also to consider: rain and a contingency plan
We attended a wedding on the water on memorial day weekend in Maine. The day earlier was 95 and dropped to 40s. The couple had to have a tent and heater. It was a beautiful wedding but always have a backup when dealing with outdoor weddings and ceremonies

May I ask what are some things you do not like about the reception venue?

We like the reception venue but we both have always wanted to get married on the beach.

We are getting married in key largo January first. Average temps are 73H/68L with rain only 3 days out of the month. Hopefully it won't be *our* three days. LOL
