MA/RI Summer Camp Wedding - Venue Suggestions?

Private User, on January 18, 2012 at 6:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 8

We are looking for a fun summer camp type of location in the Southern New England area. We are planning on 2013 and open to the time of year. Approx 100 guests - any suggestions would be helpful!

You might want to check out this listing of summer camps in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. After looking at pictures and considering location, you could just contact the camps to figure out availability and rates.

    Heidi-

Not sure if you are still looking but if you are in the Providence, Rhode Island area and willing to travel a bit, I would check out Camp Taconic in Hinsdale, MA (the Berkshires) or Whispering Pines in the Hope Valley area. If you are looking for just an outdoor space closer to Providence, why not check out Easton's Beach in Newport?

    Good luck!

    Thanks Jackie!

We are open to just about anywhere, RI, Central & Western MA as well as Southern Maine.

Easton's Beach is on my radar to check out - I've heard good things about it. Whispering Pines was actually pretty pricey - probably bc it is a wedding venue and not a real camp? That was kind of a bummer, and I will check out Taconic - thank you so much for the ideas!

If you have anymore I would LOVE to hear them!

    Thanks!

If you like the beach feel, you can't go wrong with Easton's! However, you will likely want to hire a coordinator to help you there since you are doing a lot of work yourself. Since you mentioned Barns/Camps and are open to location, you might want to also check out Zukas Hilltop Barn in Spencer, MA. They are booked for 2012 but still have openings for 2013.

    Thanks Jackie!

I have Easton's on my list to look at - do you have any guess as to what they cost? The town owned spaces are a bit harder to track down info on.

Zukas is pretty - but they are out of my budget. Thank you for the recommendation though! We are actually beginning to think about having things in my mom's backyard. I know it's a lot to take on, but I am a wedding photographer and have a good idea as to what will be involved and what we will need to get ... I hope!

    Hi Again!

It's been a little bit since I've checked in on the rates at Easton's but you can find the contact information for them at the link below. It looks like depending on the day, their rates run anywhere from $**** for a wedding reception rental. The great thing about that is you can do your ceremony and reception on site AND choose your own caterer to help save you some money. The drawback is that you have to think of ALL of the details from linen and flatware rental to the ceremony chairs.

If you are considering hiring a wedding planner or a "day of" coordinator to help you in all this, please feel free to private message me. I am very familiar with the areas you are looking at and could recommend some terrific vendors to help your day come together. If it's easier, my email address is ******@***************.***. Good luck!

Thank you Jackie! This is great!

I think we are going to go at planning alone - eek! It's a little intimidating but I am calm, type A person and quite organizes and don't get too stressed about things so I think we can manage. But don't hold me to that - you may get a call somewhere down the line if i surrender Smiley smile

    Hi Heidi

If you are still looking in South County I have two great locations.

Camp Hoffman is a Huge beautiful Girl Scout Camp ... lol but really pretty and they offer wedding packages including overnight and camp fires. It is more of a DIY venue. It;s located in West Kingston next to a pond.

Now Whispering Pines takes it to a new level !! In the middle of no where but still easy to get to and you will think you are somewhere else ! Really beautiful ! Here is their website.

    Best of luck !

If these are not what your looking for let me know. I own a photo booth rental but I am also on the Board for the Narragansett Chamber and can suggest a few other locations.
