Marquee Letters for Reception (Pics)

Whitney, on September 24, 2014 at 1:35 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 8

I found some light up marquee letters today that I fell in love with. The only thing I didn't love was the price tag. Similar to this- http://www.houzz.com/photos/products/Lighted-Marquee-Letters

After googling when I got home today, I have decided I would love to have some really dramatic HUGE 5-6 foot light up letters as a statement piece at my reception that spell out "love" or something like that. I hijacked this picture form a friends wedding that was in another city but you can see what I'm going for. I am terrible at DIY and have no patience for it so I was wondering if I can rent something like this somewhere with out spending a ton of money. Any Ideas?

I made light up marquee letters for our reception! I followed this tutorial:

    http://www.brit.co/big-marquee/

I used paper mache letters from Joann's (I used the 12" tall ones, but they have bigger, 23" letters for more of the look you're going for.. still not as big as 5-6' though), string lights from Target, and gold spray paint! It was so easy, and the whole thing cost me less than $30. Good luck!

Well done, Kathleen. Because of the lights that you used did you have to plug them in? I wonder if there are some out there that run on a battery. $30 sure beats the $100+ I saw today. Thanks for sharing!

Once I started looking up pictures I fell in love with the idea of having gigantic letters. I don't even know if this option exists but I am definitely going to look for it.

You could do just one letter -- the first letter of your new last name.

Hello everyone! I saw your posts and wanted to offer answers to any questions regarding Lighted Marquee letters or characters. Our company is based out of Las Vegas with an inventory of almost 200 of these. We have done events now for Google, Gulf oil, Disney, Cirque du Soleil, UNLV, etc, and many, many Brides and Grooms!! Our inventory consists of 3-foot for local rentals, 2-foot for nationwide shipping, and we just had "LOVE" custom-made in 5-foot, BOTH Vintage finished letters and Glossy white. They have been the most amazing products we have ever rented. The response from clients and their guests have been absolutely extraordinary!! Please let me know if I can be of any assistance. You can also email me at *****@************.***
