Marriage Age: Dream vs Reality

The Bride, on July 15, 2019 at 7:05 PM

I wanted to be married by the age of 21 but actually got married at the age of 28. What about you? What age did you dream of getting married? What age will you be when you actually get married?

Married Thirty sounds like a better phrase than Dirty Thirty and Flirty Thirty 😆

I'll be 28. Most of the women in my family were around 28-32 when they got married so I honestly didn't think anything about it. I always sort of figured I wouldn't get married and just work forever. Guess I'll do both 🤷🤣

My family always encouraged me not to get married before I was 25 to give myself time to know who I am and establish my independence.

I always thought I would be married around 24ish lol. A few years after my bachelor's degree and time for myself etc. Well at 24, I was breaking up with my ex then took the time for myself when met FH a year later. I'll be getting married at 29!

I’ve never had a Dream age, I don’t think. I got married (stupidly) at 18, and it was horrid all the way around. I will be 27 when my fiancé and I get married next year.

I was 24 when I got married the first time. I had it in my head I wanted to be married by 25. While I don’t regret it, I tell all my younger friends not to put an age on when they want to be married. It’s the stupidest thing you could do to yourself. It will happen when it’s right and it’s unreasonable to put that kind of pressure on yourself or your significant other. Besides that, we live much longer than people have in the past, are having children at older ages, and it’s much less stressful to plan a wedding when you have matured and have a stable job to help pay for it! I never thought I would marry again, and swore I wouldn’t, yet here I am at 37 getting ready to do it again.

I’ve always been a lot more baby focused so I just knew I wanted to be married before babies and I wanted my first baby in my late 20s/before 30. We’re getting married in 2 1/2 weeks and I’m 25 😊

I also wanted to wait until I got my Bachelor's degree to get married. Here I am now working on my second Master's degree and I just got married.

I think it's okay to set a marriage age goal for yourself but don't be so dead set on meeting that goal that you marry someone for the wrong reasons. I could have been married at 21 as I'd always dreamed. I was actually engaged at like 19 but when I realized the guy wasn't really for me I called off the engagement.

I always thought I would be married by 25, but of course never had a long-term boyfriend for the first 24 years of my life...

Then I found my prince charming and went to the courthouse 2 months before turning 26 (:

Our wedding with our family and friends will be this November (on our 1 year anniversary of going to the courthouse)!! Only 115 days

I dreamed of a wedding as little girl but never had an age as to when! I'll be 34 when we get married in April.
