Marriage Certificate

When we went to get our marriage license, they said to come back 2 weeks after our wedding to get our marriage certificate. But then after our wedding, our officiant said that it’s taking couples more than 2 weeks to get it, closer to 4 weeks. Is there a way to find out when we can get our certificate? I don’t want to waste a trip. Did anyone else have to wait longer than 2 weeks?

    I’m sure you could call to see if it was ready yet. Ours was mailed so I don’t know for sure.

    Ours was mailed back to us. Although it did take a week longer than what was told to us and printed on the instructions.

    Call the clerks office! I'm not sure which state you are in, but I work in a courthouse and I know that some things are taking longer because not as many people are in the office for processing.

    I'd give them a call after about 3 weeks!

    When we got married in 2016 we asked the county clerk to mail us the certificate since we live out of state, and then after 3 weeks we gave them a call and they had completely forgotten 🤦. Just make sure to follow-up and not forget about it!! 😉

    I don't remember how long mine took to get to us. but like everyone said i don't see the harm in calling to find out

    Does anyone know if both have to be present to obtain the marriage certificate or can it just be my husband? I work M-F and I’m not sure when I would be able to go in.
