Marriage License Help!

Jessyca, on August 9, 2021 at 6:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

In the county we live in, we are required to fill out the info for our marriage license online ahead of making an appointment and I am having a hard time with the "parent full birth name" section.

I understand that I should be putting my mother's maiden name but I have a tricky situation with my father's name.

He legally switched his first and middle name when he was 5, for example born as "Joe Al Lastname" and switched to "Al Joe Lastname"... which version do I put?

Additionally, my fiancé's parents were both born in the former soviet union (modern day Belarus and Latvia) - meaning their birth certificates are in Russian - do I put their names or what their names roughly translate to in English?

Would love some help on this one!

Hi Jessyca! If you have your birth certificate, I would suggest using your parents names as listed there. Good luck ❤️❤️❤️

I agree with Katie that I would list your parents names as what they are on your birth certificate and same thing for your fiancé's parents.

We just went down and got our marriage license. My FMIL goes by a different name that is different than her legal name. They wanted her legal name, so I would say whatever their legal name is what should be used. As for Birth State enter the correct actual information. When we filled ours out online once we got down there they added additional information that was not needed online, it could be a situation like that for you too.
