Marriage License - Living in one state but marrying in another

Your marriage license is issued by the county where you will be married. You should reach out to that county for guidance around timing because everywhere is different. Typically you have 30-60 days from when the license is issued to get married.

We live in Maryland and got married in Pennsylvania. You will have to get your license in Pennsylvania. You will want to check with the county to see if they require you to get your license there. The county we got married in was fine with us getting our license anywhere within Pennsylvania. The license is valid for 60 days and the waiting period is three days. The price varies from county to county. Both of you will need to be present to get your license.

You have to get it in the state you'll be marrying in. Most of the state governments have rules for it. Like in Wisconsin (where we're getting married, we're from Minnesota) you have to apply for it no more than 30 days but before I think 6 or 7 days.
