Hi, Everyone!
I wanted to ask some questions about marriage licenses… the first, how soon before your wedding date can or should you apply to get your license from the county clerk? My fiancé and I are getting married on June 26th but our appointment is May 19th, do we need to schedule it for a certain time period or will that date work (we live in California, if that helps since I know rules are different for different states)
Also, my MIL said that she’s surprised we had to make an appointment as “she thought the pastor took care of that”….? I tried googling what she means but I haven’t come up with anything supporting that. I can’t imagine that’s the case as I thought the couple getting married need to be the ones signing the document and taking care of fees, etc.? I did see something about the pastor/officiant being the one to return the marriage license to the clerk’s office after the wedding, but I can’t be sure…?
Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks so much!
