Marriage License- Texas

Ashlee , on January 2, 2020 at 5:19 AM Posted in Texas Planning 0 1
Hey there! I am trying to figure out the best way to handle this little bump we have run into! SO, my fiancé and I live in Virginia and he is originally from Texas. We are getting married in Texas on May 29, 2020 and just learned about the 72 hour waiting period that Texas has. As a teacher I can’t take off the whole week prior to the wedding to get this license early enough. Has anyone been able to get the waiver from the judge for this? Any advice?

Also- we plan to have a good family friend ordain for our wedding who is getting his license online. Has anyone had issues with this in Texas?

Could we get married in the courthouse in VA and then just have our ceremony and reception in Texas?
Options?!?

    Hey there, Ashlee.

In this situation, I would definitely advise you to reach out to the county clerk in Texas. You want to ensure you're getting accurate, legally sound advice to avoid any issues.

Getting married at the courthouse in VA followed by a vow renewal ceremony and reception in Texas does sound like a great solution if it’s not possible to get a waiver from the judge.

Let us know how you get this resolved Smiley smile
