Married Brides! How many guests didn't show up?

Amanda, on July 25, 2017 at 8:40 AM Posted in Planning 0 59

To all your happily married brides out there, how many of your guests RSVP'd yes but then didn't show up? I keep hearing expect 25% to no show! Can it be??

I had 15 no show put of 140. We had an early RSVP date and 10 of the no shower were people who I took three weeks track down. And the other 5 was one family whole learned they couldn't come and just never called. I hold almost no grudges except the 5 people if was enough time they could have called.

I had 7 people show up to the wedding but not the reception. And I had one couple bail the night before.

I'm not entirely sure yet but I do know of 1 at least who didn't come because he was in a golf tournament and it was going well so he couldn't leave. Another we got a few days notice that he was going to a cabin instead. I get things come up but when you have to know that we've paid for you, do the decent thing and show up for a few hours and enjoy the food and alcohol we've paid for for you to enjoy. SALTY.

Good point, Bee. Many of our guests are OOT so I may have a higher number than most based purely on logistics.

We had somewhere between 10-15 out of 150 RSVPs no call, no show. It really didn't bother me at all. Things happen, people get sick or have something come up.

We had one couple, friends of my father, who had RSVPd yes call us the day before to cancel due to a family emergency (a happy one actually, their daughter went into labor with triplets and they needed to travel to her!) but we did not have anyone just not turn up on the day. We had around 75 guests total.

I didn't have any no-shows, but I had one couple cancel the day before.

We had 63 who rsvp'd yes.

No shows are very rare!!! We had 3 people who has RSVPed yes not attend the wedding, but they physically could not get there due to road closures from the hurricane that was happening!

A key step here is to make sure that you follow up with everyone who did not respond by the RSVP deadline to get a firm yes or no!

    ETA: 3 of 175!

We had 16 no shows out of 150. All of the no shows had circumstances that were unavoidable. A few families had family member deaths.

We didn't have any no-shows, just one flaky friend who never RSVPed but kept texting to tell me he was going to try to be there (spoiler, he wasn't). we invited 200 and 182 RSVPed and came. i'd heard that 25% decline theory before but i think it all depends on time of year, amount of travel, yadda yadda.

We had two no-shows. One person was sick and we knew about it ahead of time (like an hour before the ceremony), and one just straight up didn't show. She was one of my mom's friends that I didn't want to invite anyway, so I'm still pretty salty that I paid for her empty seat and drinks.

We didn't have any no shows. 75 people RSVP'd yes and all 75 attended.

We had a ton of OOT guests. I suspect that people had plane tickets and hotel rooms booked before or not long after they RSVP'd, so they were motivated to follow through with their trips.

I've heard it's very hard to determine whether or not people will come. My mom did say "Oh you're inviting 75 people, try to invite 100 so that you'll at least have that 75" so I know that is a belief, but I have to be honest that I have no idea where that belief came from. I only intend to invite people who I know are good friends and will show up.

We had 4 no shows and 3 were children. No biggie, this made room for the photographer, vidographer and MUA to sit and eat. We forgot to include them in our overall count, so this worked out perfectly for us.

We had two uncles (my moms bro and then dads bro) not show up, not surprised or upset I did have one coworker no show. She was going to drive from FL. I wasn't upset she couldn't come, but more upset she didn't text me. I was worried sick on if she was okay on the drive. Then texts weren't getting delivered. She was okay and had her phone damaged by her 2yo. But I legit worried sat and Sunday night before the wedding.
