Married ladies: do you wish your wedding was longer?

Michelle, on April 28, 2021 at 6:13 PM Posted in Married Life 0 7
Or was it the perfect length? So many brides say the day goes by like a blur. Plus the industry standard is a 4-5 hr party including cocktail hour and dancing it really doesn’t seem that long.

An after party at another location isn’t logistical for everyone, especially when you want to spend as much time with guests as possible. Particularly the ones who traveled a long distance.
Do you wish you went with a no/late curfew venue or was the shorter reception just right, not counting any after party?

I think the 5 hour party was reasonable. I was super tired by the end. Now, the honeymoon, that is a different story. I could have stayed in Barbados for another week.

    I'm with Melle and Melanie.

I had SO much fun, but basically fell asleep on the way home, and barely managed to get out of the finery and makeup before I passed out for a good 10 hours.

I agree with everyone else - it absolutely goes by in a blur - but it's also a *long* day and it's exhausting. When we got home we showered and went to sleep.

Totally agree with everyone- it goes by way too fast! I was tired by the end of the evening & most definitely didn’t want to spend more time partying. Just wanted some alone time with my new husband.

I agree with the other posters. It was just right. Our venue was at a resort so it was a one stop shop. When we got up to your room after the reception, I laid down on the sofa (in my dress) and was out like a light in less than 15 minutes. It was a great day, but I was downright exhausted and it didn’t hit me until everything was over.

We didn't even have that long, and it was plenty of time.

We had a much smaller guest list, so a 4-hour reception would have been excessive to me.

We had a 3-hour reception, which was plenty of time for everyone to eat and enjoy themselves, and at the end of it I was definitely "over" being a bride.

I never got those feelings of "it was a blur" or "it went by so fast." The end came right in time for me. I didn't really enjoy being a bride. Honestly, as much as I like having pretty photos, I sometimes remember that I almost canceled the whole thing to elope in Hawaii, no reception at all, and I think I genuinely would have enjoyed that more.

But I'm glad our guests had a good time, and they all agreed it was a perfect amount time.
