Married ladies: How long did it take to get used to your new name?

I still have to stop and think when I announce myself on phone calls at work, or sign my name, etc. Problem is I haven't switched all my accounts yet so some still have my maiden name.

I'm still in transition, my name has been changed legally for about 2-3 weeks now but just changed at work on Monday. So I kind of have two identities right now!

It took a few days to adjust to a new name but what helped me was correcting other people when they called me by my maiden name and getting everything changed over on paper. I misspelled it for a good month though. My maiden name is spelled completely differently than my last name so signing my name would catch me up. Should've practiced more lol

Married a year on Sunday and still waiting. I'm just at the point where I don't have to take a second to think about it when someone asks me my last name.

I JUST got my drivers license and bills switched over this week.

This was my first paycheck where I got to sign my married name, and it was a very conscious "don't forget, you're a Smith now" moment.

I've been calling myself Mrs Smith for a while now, but actually remembering to sign it is going to take some time. lol

I've been married 18 days and I'm still not used to it. Lol. I'm actually sitting at the social security office now trying to decide on my new name! I've been debating this for so long.... Ugh...

Honestly, I really haven't started using it. I think once I officially change it (I know it's a process so haven't rushed into it) I'll use it. I added my married name to my work email signature but still refer to myself with my maiden name.

Haha I'm getting married in November and every now and then I catch myself saying FH's name with mine and it's awesome and weird all at the same time. Sounds like it'll take some time to get used too!

I'm still not really used to it, and it's been almost a year. It's fine seeing it, signing it, and even hearing other people say it (I'm a teacher, so I'm called by my last name all the time). The weird part is when I have to introduce myself, it still doesn't feel like my real name, kind of like I'm lying!

It's been almost 2 months now & I thought I was used to it. However, last weekend we went to a surprise birthday party for a dear friend & when I introduced myself I stuttered with my Ex's last name, then my maiden name & FINALLY my now married name. Let's just say AWKWARD!!!! My DH just looked at me like what the hell was that. The host of the party was like huh? So, you're Dawn then. I was like ummmmm (duh to myself) Yes, I'm Dawn! OMG I was so embarrassed!!! Think I'll just stick to my 1st name that one has never changed! LOL

I had no problem getting used to writing my married name when writing it out but when asked to initial anything I still have to stop and remind myself to use "B" instead of "M". I think the difference is because when writing my full name, I write my first name and then there is a "break" before my last name but whenever I initialed something the "T" would just kind of flow into the "M" so I have to make more of an effort with my initials.

I got married in November and still haven't changed my name. oops... LOL

It would have been a pain in the ass to change it though as I was going through immigration and it would have created SO much more paperwork! On top of a full binder's worth of paperwork.

I will change it eventually haha
