Married on asphalt..

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are getting married at a beautiful unique venue in september. The place is fit perfectly for the reception, but the ceremony is giving us some trouble since we're doing it on site. The venue has a beautiful front of the building, so we will be married infront of it with the doors and the entrance as our backdrop. However, that means everyone will be sitting on asphalt and I will be walking down the aisle on asphalt (of course with a runner). My parents have suggested laying down a rug, but I think that will draw attention to it. Any ideas?

    As a guest I would rather sit on a chair on asphalt over grass which can be uneven and get my shoes dirty. I think it will be fine once everything is set up and will hardly be noticeable. It's a beautiful venue and will make a lovely background Smiley smile

    Sitting on asphalt? You mean sitting on chairs on asphalt, correct? I don't think it's a big deal at all. Ask the venue how they've handled it for other weddings. The venue looks lovely.

    Thank you all for your feedback - so helpful! I think I am more worried about 1. my pictures (don't want it looking like i am getting married in a parking lot?) 2. my dress!! I certainly care about the guests, but I am sure their chairs will be ok Smiley smile.


    so do we think the rug will draw attention to it? it's a light brown...

    I doubt it'll look like a parking lot, Thats a beautiful building all the focus will be on you and FS in front of that gorgeous backdrop.

    As for your dress, I know this probably sounds silly, but is there someone (DOC, someone at the venue?) you could sweep the isle & spot where you're getting married? That would protect a lot of what might get caught in your dress.

    Personally I think a carpet will just look out of place.
